Leaving them tight can make the bow warp, and make the bow lose it's camber/curve.

Thanks for the info! :)

Blue Bird: All questions are good, chances are you are asking what others are thinking so thanks for putting the questions up here for us all.

Fiddlerman: I like the hat and t-shirt myself, kind of in juxtaposition to the tie and tails I picture you in when playing concerts.:)

Hey guys I'm back.  I have been very busy lately.  I go to a group called creative expression for building confidence.  It's part of this program I'm in for my mental health recovery.  Anyway, we can bring in our instruments if we want and play something.  I brought my violin in and played Can Can.  It was the first time I have played in front of a group of people since I was in orchestra class back in elementary/middle school.  There were probably about 10-12 people there.  I was very nervous but it went well and it has inspired me a lot :)

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Good for you! It's hard to perform in front of people, but something about it feels good to do :)

Haven't posted in awhile.  I went to my nieces school concert, she plays the viola, sings and plays some kind of hand drum (this is in elementary school)  The whole concert was great but my favorite part was the orchestral part, it brought back memories of my school concerts when I was a kid.  Definitely inspiring.   :)

I am continuing with that creative expression group, so that will give me a chance to play a song every week in the group when we take turns sharing.

Tried to play it this past week and it was bad because there were several notes in the song that were on the G string but when I started playing I realized the peg was completely loose and the string of course was loose too.

Tried tuning it today and broke the G string, I have had pretty good luck as far as strings go, I haven't broken any for probably a few years until now.  Put a new string on and the violin is all in tune now.

Will get to playing tomorrow since I have the time

Yay.. welcome Back.

I am so happy to hear you are back and playing.

What a Great thread.  I encourage everyone to do so.  I can't always hear everyone's stuff and post but I do listen... and do my best to catch up.

DANG I am encouraged.  I have been playing everyday and I keep going but when I get to far off on my own.  I feel alone, I miss the violin chatter and all the encouragement.

Reading the posts now as a "player" I get to offer some of my experience and give a little back.

Off to check out your video!!

sirenz

I like the sound of your violin and I like your progress.  I love Greensleeves.

Definitely time for me to dust that off and see what it sounds like a few years later.

And I love BINGO!!

Good Job.  Welcome again and thanks for the inspiration.

Toni
