As a soloist, I'm always looking to perfect my sound.

I recently came upon a new issue: my E string is way too bright for high positions. I use the Evah Pirazzi Gold string set but soon I may start using Passione Solo.

any suggestions for a warmer and darker E?

The passion solo strings on my fiddle sounded good, they were warm and projected well I used a few different E strings to see how it affected the sound,. The Westminster string was the darkest, a lenzner was just a pure crisp sound and the Gold label has a slightly brighter sound than the Lenzner does to me but very clean sound. I just put on the Amo strings form D'Addario with the Westminster E and I am very pleased with the sound, warm and they project well.

As Mark wrote, the Lenzner and the Westminster.
However, the Westminster is my all time favorite E string. Warm, powerful and pure.
