Now it sounds like we have a lot of pressure to produce something great when we were really just planning on partying. Let's see what this event turns into. :-)
Fred, do you have an updated list?

It is perfectly fine to have a DVD of everyone just partying and having fun together like an informal jam session.  Just think of it as a DVD of the Family re-union that the members of the family who didn't show up have to pay to see :D done

Okay, 7 days to go and here's the confirmed list of attendees -

Pierre & Mike

Fred & Brooke

Diane & Ted

Kim (PKY) & husband

Gail (has had surgery but will try to make it)

Richard (my violin teacher, violinist & violist)

Priscilla (my cello teacher)

Avery (runs the Julian Family Fiddle Camp, fiddler)

Maril (helps run the camp, fiddler)

Claire (Mktg Director for Mondomusica NYC, violist)

Here's the song list (I think I have them all) -

Amazing Grace

Will the Circle be Unbroken

Auld Lang Seine

Greene Sleeves

Oh Danny Boy

Cotton Eyed Joe

Ode to Joy

Pink Panther

Red River Valley

Long Long Ago

Go Tell Aunt Rhody

The Ash Grove

I've Been Working on the Railroad

The More We Get Together

On top of old smokey

Regarding recording the event -

I'm with Pierre, I had planned to just be having fun playing, hosting, bbq-ing, bartending to worry about recording the event.  Diane said her husband Ted may not be playing so may be able to vid parts of the event with different cameras, and I have a friend who might be joining just to listen who might be willing to record parts,,, but I don't think anyone's going to take it too seriously,,, we'll just have to see what we're able to come up with no loss of fun; yeah, it might be as lame as recording Xmas morning or Thanksgiving dinner, lol.

So there's the update.  The weather has been beautiful here this entire week; the weekend was in the 20's while this week has been in the 70s!

I agree about the recording I just want to see everyone getting involved and having fun. The DVD can be crap as far as I'm concerned, just so we feel like we are a little bit involved.

(Looks like my flight would be cancelled anyway due to bad snow, 2 inches in the UK can bring the place to a standstill!!)

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Yeah Terry,,, I'm sure we'll get some of it on vid!

Seriously, 2" of fluffy white powder closes your A/P!!!!???  My first year of college was at SUNY Oswego in Upstate NY on Lake Ontario (btw, the funnest college ever!).  The year I was there, the snow and cold was so severe that the National Guard had to helicopter food into the campus and during the blizzard the campus had to run rope from bldg to bldg because you couldn't see where the next bldg was.  We used to get that phenomenon (can't remember the details so I'm making it up) where with wind-chill it was -60F and you couldn't stay outside for 6 min.s or you'd died, lmao.

2" of snow,,,, pfffft,,,, you Brits, it's no wonder we won the revolution! Haaaaaaa!

Still gonna miss you buddy.

Hi, guys.  Surgery went well, but it will be another week or two before I can hold a fiddle comfortably.  Fred, do you happen to have cello music for those pieces?  Or maybe I should just show up?

Thanks!

cool

Gail, we don't have cello music,,, but yes, just show up.  Are you going to bring your cello if you make it???  I thought I was going to have mine on Sat. but there's a chance it will be on loner for the weekend.

But even if you don't feel like playing, you'll still be VERY welcome and should still have fun.  Glad your surgery was a success!

Thanks Suresh, so sorry you weren't able to make it too!

Thanks, Fred.  Turns out my printer bit the dust, so I wouldn't be able to print up any sheet music anyway.  I haven't decided if I'll bring my cello yet.  I'm still trying to find a sitter for the dog!

Fred, Michael convinced me to not bring my fiddle. ;-)
I'll be needing a loaner on Saturday :-) Also, if you don't mind printing all those sheets, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Hey Pierre, I told you, you're welcome to any of mine while you're here!

I'll try to print all the music before Sat.,,, not sure when I'll find time, but I'll try (I don't have a photocopier).  I have one copy printed for myself already.

Hey, you must be in town now right!  Welcome to CA!!!!!

Somebody BETTER be taking pictures or videos of this! ;-)  I wish I could be there, but my workers comp case just finally wrapped up and I haven't received my medical card for my spinal cord stimulator yet. :-(  Meaning.....no flying for me and an overly friendly "pat down" if I attempted to board a plane! LOL

Have fun everyone!!  I really wish I could be there!!

Yep Eric you don't want to fly without that card.  I needed the card for my defibulator when I had to go for jury duty.  Those kind of things set off all kinds of alarms.

Yeah, no kidding! LOL  I feel like a criminal every time I go to the store!  The funny thing is, most stores just ignore me.  .....except my pharmacy!  They joke about how they know I'm coming in when the alarm goes off! :D

Wish you could have been there, Toni. And I wish more members could have made it. It was so great to finally meet Pierre and a few members in person. Hopefully, there can be more jams in the future, maybe in other parts of the country, too, so more folks can participate.
