Ha ha ha ha ha ha ...

It sounds like my singing!  I always mixed songs together when I sing! I sang so perfectly that my friends thought it was one song! ha ha ha ha... LOL

i love the idea - combine the two songs so I vote for the combination of carol of the bells and what child it is. My first choice still is carol of the bells if we have to choose one song only,

I played carol of the bells before on a carillon, not what child it is (but listened to what child it is everyday -- it was one of our nap music, till it stuck in my head). However, i have only started violin for a week, so I don't know if i would be ready to participate or not:(

In addition, I know nothing about recording, post on youtube, etc etc!

I am a chicken i guess :)

I think we have a bunch of scaredy cats who would really object if I suggested the Sextet from Lucia.  That has plenty of great parts!  So I won't talk about that.

I guess for those of you who haven't guessed it, the verdict by popular demand is that I will be writing parts for "What Child Is This and Carol Of The Bells" combined :-)

I'll have parts ready this week for sure. I realize that many of you don't need sheet-music if you can listen to something but I need it to all line up and it will be a special arrangement as well.

After the parts are done I'll start working on practice videos for these parts then click-tracks that you can play in your earphones while recording to get the timing right.

OK, time to choose.
Everyone please choose your favorite only from the below 8 choices.
I even added Angels we have heard for Daniel :-)
By Monday we'll have a winner and I'll start writing some parts.
@ Oliver, LOL, fly everyone over here…

  • What Child Is This & Carol of the Bells combined
  • What Child Is This
  • Carol of the Bells
  • Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
  • God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
  • Jingle Bells
  • We Wish You a Merry Christmas
  • Angels We Have Heard on High

Hello all - just joined and am 'super' new at violin.  This sounds like a fun project (but give me something simple *please*!!

Like the first choice What Child Is This & Carol of the Bells combineddone

Do I take it that participants will be at liberty to choose their part(s) after seeing the posted music?  coffee2

How will that be handled?

How many parts will there be ?

Yes Oliver. You can practice all FOUR parts and pick one. I made them super easy and not so easy. Here is a sneak peak at what I have done so far. Please don't start just yet because I need to look at it once more, extract the parts, bow and finger for those who want. Also need to add tempo, dynamics and such.

I'll probably have a slower tempo for this. The fourth part is quite simple and the top one is the hardest.

I will try -- oh oh, I'm in the "try it" club, not the
"do it" club.

Pky - You will be able to play the 4th part for sure. 1st-place

I wrote the fourth part so that anyone can play it. Also it will sound great to add one after another in the beginning to build it up. :-)

I'll leave that to each and every individual. Hopefully it will work out on it's own. If I lack a part I'll ask for it later. Do any of you have experience with pot luck dinners? I find that you usually don't get 10 people coming with mashed potatoes.

I don't usually step out of my comfort zone. I like to be in the back ground, but this sounds like a lot of fun.

Pky, Im a chicken too, but with this, us chickens need to leave the coop.

It will be a blast, even for us chickens. I suppose this means I'll have to comb my hair smile

Yep, us chickens will definitely be out of the comfort zone.  I haven't been bothered posting videos here, because you're all so far away I'm not going to be embarassed by you.

Mary, thanks for reminding me, next time I'll comb my hair.  dancinbunny

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

I want to play as much as I can, but I guess I'll choose when I see the pieces. Will they be in Keys of C,G,F or D?

You missed it Daniel so I am reposting, This was at post #72 on this thread:

I'll probably have a slower tempo for this. The fourth part is quite simple and the top one is the hardest.

I've come a little further now but not quite ready yet. I hate it when I extract parts, start working on them individually, then realize that I have to put in dynamics for all of them.drooling
