No longer.  I fell Saturday evening and twisted my leg to the point that the top of my foot was looking over my shoulder!!!  ouch

We were at the lake house we visit every year.  The house is located down the hill from the parking area.  I didn't think I would ever make it up that hill!!! My son and hubby helped me up to the car.

Anyway - Luckily I had practiced that morning.

Sunday I went to the ER - thankfully no fractures just a torn meniscus.  Docs put me on pain meds and I have slept off and on until this afternoon.  Picked up the fiddle and played a couple of tunes.

I missed 3 days of practice!  I am bummed - I was hoping for a world record!  That would be my only claim to fame as a fiddle player!!

Violinist start date -  May 2013

Fiddler start date - May 2014

FIDDLE- Gift from a dear friend. A 1930-40 german copy, of a french copy of a Stradivarius.  BOW - $50 carbon fiber. Strings - Dominants with E Pirastro Gold string.

Well, you've still got a related streak going - you've practiced every day that you were conscious... :)

Hope the leg gets to feeling better soon - they don't take kindly to being re-arranged like that. Glad it wasn't any worse than it was.

Oh no! I'm sorry about your fall :( I'm glad you weren't hurt worse. I think you have a good excuse for breaking your streak.

Sorry to hear about your fall.  I'll bet that hurts a lot.  I hope you're all better soon.

Thanks all!  The pain is less everyday.  I don't believe I will need surgery.

....

I love it!!  My new claim to fame - I have practiced every day that I was conscious for 4 years.

This is my first day home alone.  Before hubby left for work I had him bring my fiddle in to me, good old Berty is sitting right here!!

I totally agree. You were not in control of that situation so it doesn't count.

I wasn't going to have the MRI, but my family talked me into it.   I just got a call with the results - fracture head of the fibula.  Leg immobilizer and crutches for 4 weeks, then they will discuss the torn meniscus.  UGH!!

Very sorry to hear this. You'll have to play more fiddle to get your mind off the other issues......

Hope you get well soon.

Why do I have the impression they're going to have to handcuff you to the crutches to actually get you to use them for the full 4 weeks? :)

On second thought, I have a much better answer - attach your violin case to one, and some sort of bow case to the other. That should give you enough incentive to never go anywhere without them, and lots of extra opportunities to practice as well.  I figure it you practice 3 times as  much for 3 days, we can ignore those three 3 days you were unconscious and consider your streak unbroken.  (Any extra practice after that is saved up against future surprises. Or gravy, take your pick. :) )
