So today at 2pm was the OTJ in Titusville, each week. I was there and another regular who plays the Dobro borrowed grannys fiddle and jammed out a few tunes. I thought it interesting that he appeared to play everything in third posistion. When I asked him about it he had no idea what that was, he just learned to play again the old time way, by ear at his granddaddys feet. So we talked a bit and he showed me the method to his madness, I promised to keep it a secret so dont ask. But, It was ingeniously simple, the slap your own forhead kinda simple. I dont quite have the hang of it yet, as it does require an ear for music. I did get close and feel like I could be jammin in a month or so. Anyways, the folks are real nice and even jamed "oh susanna" since I knew that one. Fiddle on- pfish.
