Of course I have, one of my favorites is Tartini's ''Devil's Trill Sonata''. Beautiful!!

Giuseppe Tartini Sonata G minor Devil 's Trill, Anne Sophie Mutter violin. She is a great performer, but her face is a bit sour as if she has eaten some lemons before she started playing. laugh

Jerusalem Ridge:

I'd like to be able to play it on mandolin, as well.

Great topic, BTW.

Jerusalem Ridge is on my list also. I wish to be so good at it, it just rolls off the instrument like in your video, @KindaScratchy .

Funny enough, I started writing the music for that for some reason using Finale. I think someone asked for it a while back but I also saw when I searched yesterday that there are plenty of versions available online.

You can do it Leana. Since it's a canon, it's easier and funner and makes more sense with at least two people. If you purchase a looper you can play a beautiful canon with yourself. :)

LMAO !!  if playing with myself you mean........ that I would have to play the same 8 notes over, and over as back up- I think I will pass. LOL

other than that, a looper sounds right up my alley, but I don't have any idea what it is.

I have tried three different ways to practice it, and I have not succeeded yet (new computer)- I have been trying for about 6 months...  I thought that I would have a presentable version by what was previously known as my 3 year violinaversity, but I understand my lacking in experience (and that this is not an easy piece)- but I know for sure someday.........

what is a looper ?

LOL (all about funner !)

A looper is like a live recording device that you press once to record then again to play what you recorded. Some loopers will record multiple parts over and combine them. Some are simple and easy while others are complicated and difficult to use. In any case, they are a lot of fun. :)
I tried one out for selling at Fiddlershop that actually has built-in rhythm section and accompaniment, band..... Pure fun..... I'll try to put that on my schedule.

There are so many tunes to choose from but, at the minute, I would love to perfect this song.

wow ! the whole song is beautiful, but the violin part- way outside my skill set. well, so was "the star spangled banner"- but that's just me.

LOL

This was very beautiful, and right up my eventual alley- thanks for sharing.

do you practice this at all ?

It's a beautiful song. I practice the easy bits so far, getting my skill up to play it will take a while but when I do it'll be awesome.

I'm always looking out for future songs to play, so far I've actually made good headway with a few. Returning to the violin was a great decision.

My dream tune would have to be this song. Unfortunately there isn't sheet music for this song and I do not think learning by ear would help me with this particular song.

When I was 12, Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers came out. I remember hearing the theme for the Riders of Rohan for the first time and that was pretty much the moment I really wanted to learn to play. I can't believe it's been that long, but that was my dream tune. I didn't start really playing until a few years ago, but it is still one of my top tunes to learn. More recently, Jerusalem Ridge has really caught my ear. I love the way it sounds and would love to learn to play it well.

I know that my answers to this question won't be on the harder side of songs to learn but these three I'm going to list are the goals I have set for myself.

Ultimate Goal: Schindler's List Theme song:

Other two I want to learn:

Lindsey Stirling - Crystallize
Halleluah

Hallelujah (many different versions of this song out there.. I do like Lindsey Stirling's version of this one but I like others as well..) Here's hers:

You'll never know unless you try! What's in my violin case?
