Today I took out the sound post and as suspected it was way too tight. As soon as I knocked it loose the top dropped down and the ear on the f hole lined back up. My new strings will probably be here Monday the 31st or Wednesday the 2nd.When they arrive I'll start putting things back together. It may be awhile since my shop is now full of boxes. A tree fell on our house and we had to pack up the rooms. I have a PODS coming Tuesday so I should be able to empty the shop out.

Bloody hell Kevin, hopefully no-one and nothing (apart from your roof) was damaged.
I have to ask, was it a tree that can be converted into violins? Now THEY would be instruments with history!

Note for myself - never touch the sound post - beware of the trees!
