Hi everyone!

I'm Clifford and I'll be posting all my violin playing video on this thread.

I've been a member for quite some time now though I rarely post anything on the forums nor in the chatbox. But rest assured that I'm always here, reading every posts like a newspaper in the morning! coffee

So a little something about me first:

I've been playing the violin for a little over a year now, although I don't play nor practice on a regular basis and I'm still in the beginner's level. I never had the chance to take proper lessons and I only learned how to play through the internet. I used to play in our church band, playing melodies (if we have sheet music) or root notes of the guitar chords (which is pretty much what i do most of the time). I don't have the gift of playing by ear nor improvising my own melody. tongue

That's pretty much everything about me and my violin experience

So here's my first video! violin-student

Glad to see you posting now.
As you probably know, intonation is extremely important.
Get the C# and B natural a little higher and it will be much better.
Also use your right elbow more and not so much upper arm.
Look forward to the next post.

Cliff, I really enjoyed that.  Thanks for posting.

I've learned so much from my mistakes that I've decided to make some more.

I'm thinking his violin is not in tune, if he's placing his fingers in between the frets in the proper position to the note, then it's not in tune.

First fretted violin i've ever seen, heard about them but this is a first.

Anyway,, good job.violin-student

Well those frets are not like guitar frets. They don't stick up that much. They don't effect the playing like guitar frets. It's just that you can feel them to find the notes.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

@Fiddlerman: Thank you FM and I will improve my intonation on my next video! The joint in my elbow is kinda sore right now from playing football that's why I had to use more upper arm. I'll upload another video in two weeks and my bowing should be better by then thumbs-up

@Gail: Thank you! I'll be uploading more videos soon! violin-student

@Fiddlestix: The fret is not actually permanent. It's a fingerboard applique, just a sticker you put on the fingerboard for practice. I got mine from a friend but I think FM sells it in Fiddlershop. I don't think I'll be removing it anytime soon since I like the look of a fretted violin haha. Thanks for the feedback too!amuse

@DeeMajor: Thanks a lot! I will do better next time dancinbunny

@Mad_Wed: Thanks! I'll try to improve on my bowing since it's definitely not straight. Like what FM said, i have to use lesser upper arm tongue I'll have to keep working on my vibrato too since I can't sustain it for longer period laugh

Woot! I finally got to record again. I've been busy with school for the past few months and I know that this update is way overdue. Most of the time, I just end up stalking this website rather than actually posting. facepalm I apologize for my absence but anyway…. ENJOY! thumbs-up

I'm the guy on the left, and the other two guys are JLNo2 (violin) and sheeon1 (piano). They were the first to make a cover of the song on Youtube and I decided to join in and play the lower part.amuse

Wow, man.  That is beautiful!  I loved it.  I really enjoy the slower music like this.  I think Fiddle music is cool, but nothing soothes the soul like this type of music.  Bravo.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll try to record some other songs again if I can find the time in between school stuff. Though, it might take a long while before I can do so... amuse
