Haha that's cheating though. What if you used computer effects to make your violin sound incredible.
Cheating, or Art? You could call it "enhancing" the film experience, or an "artistic interpretation" of a great masterpiece...

That was FANTASTIC. I almost died laughing, which brings me to another idea. The violin cam is OK but let's admit it. Just a little boring, not much action, right? How about the bow cam??????? This would be REALLY cool.
BAD IDEA! I only watched for no more than two seconds after he started playing — it's worse than vertigo — my stomach started to turn over so I quit watching:P. I'm one of those that get motion sickness easily:( even just thinking about it is making me sick now.
However, I have to admit, David, you are creative. I cannot watch it doesn't mean that other people can't or don't like it. I'm sure you will have your fans! Not I LOL

I tried various ways to attach the cam to the bow tip. No dice, it has a usb cable that while long enough, changes weight on the tip. Very hard to control, and I did not want to damage the bow tip. I did have it attached to the bow near the frog, but it was difficult to get my hand in there. I was left with attaching it to my index and middle fingers. When I bowed quickly, the microphone picked up some wind noise and the noise of it shifting slightly on my hand. I think it was a riot the way the sound ebbed and flowed. Maybe I could do one on a revolving desk chair, or maybe I could quit screwing around and make my Christmas Project video!

It would need to be a small "lipstick" camera. Self-contained with a non marring clamp that is slightly adjustable. I would love to have it mounted just below mid bow, where you could see that point cross the strings and continue past the violin. The usb cable is a bit cumbersome and adds weight. My other handheld digital video camera is way to heavy for a bow cam. I was going to cut back and forth between camera shots, but "windows movie maker" is a bit weak. I have another program on my home built computer called Pinnacle Studio 10. It is much more powerful, better transitions, like crossfade. Easier to cut and paste clips together.

I see a nice niche in the Shar catalog for a Bow Camera. Are you serious about patent pending?
There are always some people in the violin community who will buy ANYTHING and pay too much for it
(like bows)
A bow with integrated 3d video camera. I can see violin nerds lining up with cash in hand to make themselves nauseous tracking their bowing.

Market it as a "training tool," triple the price and you've got your Million Dollar Idea! Srsly.

I believe that would work ... you could make so much money you'd then sponsor all of us on a really cool holiday, fiddlin' all over the place ...
Dave, you might be our financial saviour after all.
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.
