I thought your tempo was perfect btw.

Thank you!

I found a Karaoke version of "Memory" it's by the Prague Symphony Orchestra. It sounds like the original score. I also bought another version with Betty Buckley singing, I like it better than funny face Streisand. Amazon.com....99 cents each!

Both versions of "Memory" are identical. I was playing too slow, of course some notes were not played as long as they should have been. I play along with the vocals a few times, then play the karaoke version, the last section of the song is making me insane, but that did not take much!

There is not much in the way of notation other than ff..mf..p etc. I have been taking clues from the vocals.

Ok, so much for slowing down and taking it easy! I was watching the moon rise tonight and it reminded me of "CATS". The musical. So, I hacked my way through the first few measures of "Memory". I was paying attention to note accuracy and timing may have suffered a bit.

Thank  you, I watched your Christmas videos, did you run through the music a couple times before posting or can you just read and play in time like that? I am still trying to get through violin 4 without getting lost. And your violin sounds very nice.

Thank you. I can read notes a bit but I'm not very fast or good at it because mine was pretty much self taught. When I learned violin in school I was taught the Suzuki method which is more like learning and memorising pieces by ear. Once I quit violin, I re learnt it under AMEB through school again, but my theory is still pretty much non existant. For the videos, I printed off the music sheet and wrote little arrows indicating if they were meant to be like a high or low 2 etc because I can't read the key unless I sit down and write it in before hand.

I play a piece over and over with a tuner right in front of me so I can see if I am hitting the right notes. I am kind of weird about making notes on my music. I feel like I am writing in a book. Something I NEVER do. Even if I own the book. I will have to get over it. I can see where some notation would greatly help me.

What about if you print music? Can you then write on it? You can always print a new clean copy afterwards.

@ Chinny - Have you tried my two games aimed at teaching users to read music?
The one a Violin Fingering Game and the other is Rhythm Counting Game.
I also have a fingerboard chart for identifying the location in the various key signatures. You should probably print that though.

I think I will just make some marks on the music, it will help when I go back to play it another time. Nobody said this was going to be easy!     rofl

Yep, I print out the music and make my marks all over it knowing I can print out a fresh copy of the music. My wife hates it cause we're always low on black ink ;-)

Ya, I hate that. Ink Cartridges are so expensive. I ordered a few extra last time.

Oh, you can always buy refill. It's in a syringe form, so you can inject the ink into your catridge and it's a LOT cheaper than buying the catridge itself. I'm not sure whether you have those there but you can always go to a computer shop and look around.smile

I always want the originals. I guess I should try the refills for the heck of it. Money doesn't grow on trees over here.exactly

I've had good luck with the knock-off supplies for my Epson printer. So far only one cartridge that wouldn't work and the company replaced it for free.

I had bad luck when I had an Epson. They were so careful to make sure you couldn't use knock-off cartridges. Maybe the knock-offs have gotten smarter :-)

I am however interested in trying the refills now. I made sure not to buy another Epson even though they have a great reputation.

Costco does refill for you, but you could only get it done for certain times. Sometimes it depends on your catridge container it may leak or clog at the jet. i had it done once and it leaked.

Someone sent me an email comparing prices among water, gas, ink, soda, etc, the ink is $5000 per gallon. It is not just expensive, it is supper expensive!

LOL. That IS really expensive. And it only leaks when I put in too much so you just need to make sure you put in the right measurement, depending on how little your ink in your catridge had left. laugh

OK, had a little time to kill and a really bad idea. I call it "The Violin Cam". Please don't bother to critique my lack of skills, I was laughing and the tripod mount was in the way, just enjoy and have a laugh or two.
