Hi all... I didn't have the best of practices today...with my sister on her way and all. I felt a bit rushed... but this is an idea of tomorrow...with four other violinist...
I hope my screeching and mishaps will be hidden...but my excuse... I am a beginner.

Thank you everyone.....
I appreciate the feedback. I owe much to you all.
Tonight is the night. I am trying to get excited....nervous too....sitting here with my coffee.
The recital will be recorded as a whole. Hubby will record my bits I am sure.
Sitting in the quiet morning with coffee feels peaceful.

So Toni, how did it go?
A resounding success and you wish you could do it all again or was it a crash and burn?
We're all hoping for the former, but if it was the latter, so what, first one out the way, look forward to the next with all the new experience you have under your belt.
My money is on the success story tbh!
I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Hi Terry... It was a success. I didn't screw up! I did okay. The videos that were taken don't sound as nice as the big room filled with sound... there is supposed to be some additional video coming... the vidoes that my husband took you can't see me... I am in the back on the opposite side. That is my fault I think. I was so shy.... and the camera bothered me. The entire production was nice. It was inspiring to see the young violinist really play there songs.. impressive a few of them... Thanks for asking. It is kind of like I was in a fog. There was a chance for a run through when I got there ...but we had to do it in front of the audience...and that was terrifying...but also reassuring. There is another recital in the Fall... I am not sure I will be involved in that at all.... time will tell. Thanks again for all the support here. You have have been so patient with me. All the violins and sounds and the whole thing is kind of neat because I have no IRL violin or musical people in my life. Thank goodness for the FM kinship! I got a little chance to have a little IM convo with Pierre right before I left and that was golden. Thank you Pierre...I will never forget "breath from the belly and lean forward.." xo Toni

Good to hear that it went well. I'd already said a few times that I was confident you'd do fine by the actual day of the recital.
You may not be looking for opinions on the matter of doing another recital, but I'll go ahead and give one anyway. I think you should at least seriously consider signing up for the next recital right away and get one or two pieces assigned by your teacher to work on for it. You had a nice time at your first recital, so you know that performance isn't all that bad. But more importantly, if you think about how much work you put into SF for the recital, and how much your playing improved overall, I'd say it was probably time very well spent. For most musicians, the gig or recital or jam session or whatever that they have coming up is one of the easiest incentives to work at for getting better and getting more music down. Even if you ultimately only plan to play for your own enjoyment, well, you will enjoy it even better as you get to playing even better.
But big congrats on doing well at your first recital!
Hearing how well you were playing and how much improvement you were getting as you worked on it, I had more worries that the recital itself might be boring or have too many rude people at it than that you personally wouldn't play well. You are doing great!
