the fiddle is a turn of the last century german trade fiddle that I worked over, needed a new fingerboard, nut, chinrest, soundpost, tailpiece, tailgut, endpin, bridge, a treble side crack fixed and a number of seams that were unglued, the finish was soo bad on the top I started with 150 grit sandpaper to clean it up..I absolutely could not have ruined this violin any more than when it showed up here.. lolol

sometimes ya dont know who your going to play with and I think thats what makes it interesting, all things considered we did ok. Between thursday and monday I and we played about 48 hours in jam sessions and out on my own.. I ended up with a few new tunes in my head and some great new freinds to play with which are very few and far between here..

the occasion is the western minnesota steam threshers reunion in rollag mn
a few years ago I looked around the grounds and realized I was about the youngest one there (43 at the time) with any intrest in music, its been all up to the older generations who are rapidly disappearing. I spend a few hours during the show talking to kids and help them develop an intrest in playing old timey and classic country type music. many will stop and ask questions etc in a particular place I like to play at. Found one teenager wandering with his fiddle so I stopped and chatted and played with him for awhile to see where he was at, turns out he had only been playing for a month, helped him along his journey, maybe he will be back in a few years or sooner. I like to call it planting seeds...
