You are able to sing nicely. I think that that means that you have an ear. You have to teach your fingers to do what your vocal organs can do. You ought to be able to get rid of the tapes pretty soon. You might try drilling on the chromatic scale and other scales to speed that along. You can work with a tuner to train your ear and left hand. You could use a scorewriter such as MuseScore (free at musescore.org) to write the chromatic scale or any scale into a score and play it back for ear training.

Chris, one thing I did notice was that you were looking down on your desk to read the music. Do you have a music stand or a place you can prop up your music vertically, It would be much easier for you, I think.
Edit:...... one more thing I was wondering while watching your vid. How is the humidity in your basement, is it dry down there ? I don't mean like standing water, but usually basement's do have a certain amount of dampness and a chill. Is your violin and bow reacting to it in any way ?
