Filmed a time lapse of a wild thunderstorm that blew through last night.  Ive been working on Rakish Paddy today and well.. yah know 😐

Wish i would have thought to start about an hour earlier so i couldve just let it play from day to night but had to cut it up a bit.  This is over about 2hrs I think which meant i had about a minute and 3 seconds footage.

Anyway..

EDIT..

worked a bit more on it.  Complete do over. still on the slow side I know.

Great playing as always Greg, I especially like your timing. Love the vid, I am a bit of an odd ball, I am into thunderstorms, especially now that my roof is fixed and doesn’t leak like a sieve

A leaky roof would make a difference!

When I can’t sleep at night, which is often, I imagine myself lying in a tent somewhere in the highlands of Scotland,(beautiful and spectacular country) in an isolated glen listening to the sound of rain beating down, where I can’t hear the sound of cars or lorries, usually works😀

@ABitRusty -

Another wonderful video!

Enjoyed you played this VERY well!

Can't say I've had this one on my list, though.

We've had a few good TS's that shook the house this year, but lately just a lot of rain - only got up to 70℉ today!!!  It's like early Indian Summer!

thank you @Elcbk .   you know it wasnt on my radar either Id heard it mainly from one of Martin Hayes cd's.  but it came up from someone else wanting to learn it so it settled on my list too.  like most reels its usually alot faster than doing it.  Still clunky with it.  probably will be for a while.

what was neat on this one is i experimented with dadgad tuning on the geetar which i hqvent used much other than some fingerstyle stuff several years ago.  Been watching some tutorials on it.  Just something different.   not even really sure what chords i was even playing 🤔..  think a G and some g-sus type.   I just poked around till i found something i could do that sounded better than the thing i did right before..  till i found something i liked.

Happy about getting a wide fret spread on one of them from 1st finger to pinky.  so yeah..i think this one was as much about the backing as basic as it was.   something to build on maybe.  plus getting the melody more solid in my fingers on fiddle.  maybe bqck to the green mountain set.. or the moutain road next.  dunno..ill see what strikes my interest in a couple of days.   Im trying to cycle through several i know just to keep them fresh in my head.   class and session time starting back in a couple of weeks.

as always thanks for taking a peek.

I really notice the difference in your playing & video making from last year - seems you were working so much & didn't have time to spend on anything music!

Great progress & on multiple instruments!

thanks..working..dont we all!  everybody got something and sometimes lots more serious than a job.  i use it as a convienent excuse 😊.   I dont feel the quality much better but i think getting the tunes seems easier.   Yeah ive had a good couple or so month stretch where ive been able to play alot.  took a violin on a trip with us.  somewhere around the middle of the week i took it out while wife was in shower and fiddled some.   a bit later she said..oh..you brought your fiddle.   🤣  somehow i was able to pack it before leaving unnoticed 🥸
