Everyone has been so great about posting videos lately, so I thought I should put one up too. I've been working on a new piece this week-- Czardas, by Monti. Much of it may be too difficult for me, but it's fun trying anyway. This is just a segment that I've been practicing over, and over, and over... I'm playing on my grandpa's violin in the video.

That is sooo not fair!! You have set the bar to high for me. Now I am going to have to practice even MORE to keep up, lol. I loved it though. Now you have me motivated to get my tail in gear.

I too am working on czardas and have been for some time.
Nice to see someone else giving it a try.
Seems like the only time you hear it is by very accomplished violinist.
I will soon change that!
It is, a tough pieace and you are really doing well with it.
Did you start with that part because you are trying to get some of the hard stuff out of the way first?
I work on those measures for awhile and always slip back into the beginning because its the only part I can make sound half decent.
Anyway looking forward to your next update. Thanks for sharing.
No matter where you go, there you are!

LB, I really like the rhythm of that section. That piece is naturally broken into many small sections, as you know. It's like having 6-8 pieces in one. I find that it is not difficult to play the notes in the first section, but I cannot make it sing like I would like. Instead it sounds like someone with laryngitis singing. Maybe between the two of us, we will be able to play it properly someday.

That's for all the kind words. I'll definitely share more of the piece later on. I may not ever learn the whole thing...time will tell. There is a section with artificial (fingered) harmonics that is a little over my head right now. I understand how they're played, but can't quite pull it off yet.
It really is a great piece. Lots of wonderful versions to watch/listen to on youtube.

@ Sara and LB- I think you both sound pretty awesome. But after YouTubing the vid...uh, yea, I think this is a bit over my head too! The masterpiece I am working on is the super difficult, Twinkle Twinkle, lol. It is like Vivaldi to me right now. But great vids, both or you. Keep up the awesome work!
