I am happy to report... I had help with my violin last night.  I had a great session.  The version of Ashokan that I have been using, well it had a couple of places that have always bugged me. Not so much that they are difficult but they don't belong... to me they didn't seem to belong.  So last night my Violin friend told me I didn't even need those parts... and sure as heck they don't make a lot of sense.  So I hope to post a new version without those parts.

I never could rectify those with Ray and Molly's video  that I listen to every single day. :)

Woot.  I feel good about that.

@coolpinkone, the new version you have, is it in the key of D, beginning on A?

@BillyG

I'd be honored.   :)

Sorry about the delay - some work got in the way.  Here's a quick stab at it this morning....  it's not as good as I would have liked but "time is tight here" at the moment....  we can maybe return to this - always great to play-along to others' pieces....   Our "timings" and timing interpretation differ - I tried to get as close to yours as possible - but I've slipped up in a couple of places - hope it doesn't detract too much from your original...

Great fun though, thanks for the permission.....

Here is my latest Ashokan Farewell.   I am still playing it often, and I hope to play an electric version soon.  I mean I already play it... but this video stuff just doesn't get easier... IT is the red record button of death to tone and bad bowing.   :)

Cheers.

Well here's my three day attempt at learning this beautiful tune. Stay tuned on streetjelly for the upcoming June show where I will be playing it all polished and finished up.

Yes, thank you Mr. Bill...

I'm currently on day 5 and it sounds 50% better. Cleaner and more precise. Of course my other tunes have suffered a little neglect during this past week! LoLdazed

On to practice! thumbs-up

@cdennyb

Can't wait to hear your progress.  I hope you post here when you have new stuff to share.

I gave this song a good whirl the last few days.  I have added a second double stop and I feel like it is getting closer to my goal of playing with Ray and Molly.

Woo Hoo!!!

I really gotta pick this one back up. I play by memory, which at my age is not exactly the most accurate.. lol

WOW Denny, that played on the EV really sounds haunting...
