Enjoyed your Ashokan stories ....
@Barry
Really nice job on the viola - this tune sounds especially beautiful with the deep tones.
@kindascratchy
Your backing tracks are awesome - great playing as well. I dream of the day I can make my own backing tracks like that - so nice.
I've made several videos but have deleted them all - all way too bad to post - maybe I will get there soon.

@VickieD No worries on a video... the videos are just a bonus. No pressure to post a video... and there is time if you feel inclined. It is just fun to be working on the piece together.
I am struggling with two parts and I know one is because my fourth finger pinky is weak so I try to slur from G string to open A... (sounds punky).

WOW... incredible performance! I could only hope to sound as nice... awesome.
Thanks for commenting. I recorded this first take as a sound check, the violin sounded terrible and I was set for a few takes to try and improve it but ran it through my audio software first. After a bit of Equalizing it sounded far better, so the credit goes to my Audio processing software.

Great work, shows just what practice and patience gets us @Gil - really well done ! ThanksPS - loved the story-board ! LOL
Thanks Bill,
I recorded this as a sound check, the violin sounded so bad I was going to scrap it.
I ran it through my Audio software to try and eliminate the scratchy, scraping, and after using both a High and Low pass on the EQ. I ended up with this, just luck, a bit of reverb, and uploaded before I changed my mind.

Bravo!!!
Loved the performance, the wife story (joke) and the tech description.
What kind of amp are you using with your Hummingbird?
Thanks for comment, no amp, just the mic. and Audio processing (Cakewalk Sonar x3). Over processed as the Guitar has a new fault, the plate inside under the bridge has split and is causing the second string, and some times the third, to ring at certain frequencies, you can imagine the cost to repair.

Very nice, @Gil ! Your fiddle and Hummingbird both sounded great! I've got the Epiphone Hummingbird, BTW. I liked the running commentary, too.
Hi, Yes I spotted your Epiphone Hummingbird, excellent guitars by Gibson owned company. My guitar used to be sunburst the same as yours but after years of playing my hot arm melted the varnish and it started to peal off, so I stripped the whole lot. Everybody said that it would devalue the guitar but I said I was never going to sell it anyway so what did it matter.

Definitely still a work in progress ... especially the part where I'm trying out 3rd position but wanted to get a contribution out there - Thanks CPO and KindaScratchy for encouraging us to work on this piece.

@VickieD - BRAVO ! Very nicely done ! I'm just starting to work into higher positions, you're doing well! And I like the occasional embellishments, not "overdone" at all - and the double stops. Thanks !
This has been ( well still is! ) a great thread....
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)
