Yay... since there is no limit for time...I might be up for this.  I like parties and want to join you!!

Thought I would bump up your post for "visuals"   .... who knows what Aussie type song I can find.. it is always easier if I am familiar.

Keep it up....

I am hoping to post to the SwallowTail party and the Method Book Party in the next 5 -6 weeks...

Keep these threads going.. Love em....

@coolpinkone

Toni

Its great to see you hopping on board. I'm looking forward to the post if you can find the time.

I'm happy to help you find any sheet music that you may want.

There is a community 'Breakfast in the Park' on Sunday (tomorrow). There will be all kind of things happening through the day, and a concert in the evening. It should be a great day :)

Its probably much like your '4th'

(btw... There is still 'no' deadline on this :) )

@Fiddlerman Pierre

You are invited as well. I'm sure that you could handle it roflol

Join in :)

I just saw this Ferret. Sorry, sometimes I skim the forum too quickly and miss some stuff. I'll gladly join if I find some time. My problem is that I work from early morning to late evening/nights and rarely find time to do fun stuff. I'm forcing myself to take time off to go sailing though :-)

I have a good idea though. We'll see, don't want to promise because I've done that to so many people and not followed up.

I'm going to try and jump in on this tomorrow. I've been working on one of the only two Australian songs that I know. The other one is Waltzing Matilda.

I'm glad that there's no deadline, though, as I'm not sure I can get it done tomorrow (which is probably today in Australia).

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Robyn

Nice playing, thanks. I was thinking about getting a cello but I've opted for a mandolin.

The Straya thing sounds about right to me. thumbs-up

Well I recorded my little Botany Bay contribution to the Australia Day party but can't upload on my limited hotel wifi.  It'll be a few weeks late I guess, since I'll upload when I'm back home :)

Happy Australia Day!!!!

Sorry, my teacher encourage me to play in high positions, so this one is ear-violating, and yes, i don't have a sense of rhythm, poor Waltzing Matilda XD!!!

@Ferret - Great party!

Really enjoyed everyone's videos, awesome playing! clap

@Robyn.fnq, very nice job with the cello too! Loved the Australian terms and your disclaimer.

I was able to understand the beer and barbie part without Google's help.....roflol

Naska, you're now an honorary Aussie !!!  aussie_flag

OI! OI! OI!

Thank you for that beautiful rendition, sure beats anything I could do, and you put a lot of Aussies to shame.

Pity about the mute, I couldn't hear it too well, probably my browser ... frown

Thank you all for positive comments, I can't believe I'm learning the cello much faster than violin, in only a few weeks (as opposed to a couple of years on violin).

Here's my contribution...one of the two Australian songs that I know. The first, of course, is Waltzing Matilda.

This is the other one: Kookaburra, an Australian folk song that's typically sung as a round. I tried editing it as such, but it didn't sound right, so here it is straight through, short and not so sweet. It was very hastily put together.

Happy Australia Day, aussie friends!aussie_flag

Great job, everyone, on all the videos above!

@mad_wed Naska: beautiful, as always. Definitely not ear splitting and plenty of rhythm.

@Robyn.fnq Robin: congratulations on your cello. You're doing great! You must be experiencing with the cello the same thing that I am with the mandolin. Your violin experience has jump-started your cello capabilities. I would think that many of the fundamental skills are the same, so you don't have to learn them from scratch this time around.

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.
