Wishing a Happy Hanukkah to all.

My son is playing this song with his Suzuki group class for their holiday recital next week, and he really enjoys it. So I thought I would play it in honor of the first day of Hanukkah.

Perhaps others would also like to contribute a Hanukkah song, or maybe something else like a Klezmer piece. Hanukkah doesn't end until next Monday evening, so there is some time remaining.

concertina-4198  All Together Now:

I have a little dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!

chorus:
Oh - dreidel, dreidel, dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play!

It has a lovely body
With legs so short and thin
And when my dreidel’s tired
It drops and then I win!

chorus

My dreidel’s always playful
It loves to dance and spin
A happy game of dreidel
Come play now, let’s begin!

chorus

Happy Hanukka.

Happy Hanukkah!smile I might have something to contribute, just need to edit it a little bit and find the courage to actually post it.

@AnnyJ ,

I would love to hear your contribution. Would this be your first video? - it would be a great way to celebrate the holiday!

@coolpinkone ,

"I had a little dreidel" is a fun piece. My son first heard it in a cartoon, and then when he realized it was one of the pieces for the holiday program, he was really excited about learning to play it. I'd enjoy hearing your version of it.

I will try a sound clip today or tomorrow.  Busy time.. I have some projects for Christmas I am knitting.. and some soap to make for my Soap Shop... and working on Holiday violin songs also.

I have been listening to Dreidal.. and it is a great tune.  I recognize it.   :)

:) Cheers.

Fidelestre, yes this will be the first video, I hope I trimmed it properly, (this was a spontaneous thing, so please excuse the occasional off note and the tenseness)

I'll probably regret this, but here it goes:

@AnnyJ ,

I think the video is not showing because it appears that you made it "private" on Youtube, rather than "unlisted" for example. With a private designation, it can only be viewed by those who are logged in under Youtube accounts you have specifically given permission to.

AnnyJ,

Nicely done! It is a beautiful song - bonus points for choosing a lesser-known piece to share.

You should be getting your video badge now - very well deserved!

I wanted to get this in before tomorrow.  Happy Hanukkah!

@coolpinkone ,

Thanks for joining in the festivities - sounds great! I think you are playing it on the D and A strings rather than the A and E strings like I used, and the lower tones sound good for this tune.
