It's exactly two weeks until St. Patrick's Day 2015, so it's time to get the party started!

Pull out your fiddle, rosin up the bow, put on a little green, play your favorite Irish tune and post it here. Everyone's invited!

dancing-irish-smileypaddy-smileysaint_patricks_day

P.S. Audio-only recordings, previously posted videos and videos of professional fiddlers are welcome, too, just as long as the music is Irish. :)

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

I'd like to learn The Irish Washerwoman finally.  Maybe two weeks is enough...

Never mind maneuvers, just go straight at them.

My only green is in Camo pattern, so I sadly skipped that paht. I just opened my brandy spanking new Master Viola from Fiddlershop and just could't contain myself. It's a 16.5" and I'm use to playing on a 16" so pardon the awkward looking fingering... I was so nervous I would simply drop it from excitement. Thanks Fiddlerman and Fiddlerboy (Sorry Mike, I had to say it). With out further adieu here is my contribution to the Pahty... from Southie to you...

Thanks for being the first to the party, Ripton! And from Southie, yet! Very appropriate.

(For anyone who doesn't know...Southie is the nickname for South Boston, a predominantly Irish neighborhood of Boston.)

I enjoyed your tune! Who's next?

I'm sure some of these tunes are Irish..... I'm mostly sharing because I've watched this video almost every day for the last month.

Aha...  I forgot - I do kinda know a few Irish tunes - here's a wee medley of simple "Irish-related" ones, nothing clever -  Whiskey in the Jar, Wild (Irish) Rover, and Molly Malone....   very much off the cuff - not tunes I bother practicing much - they're just for fun - but here you go....   ohhh... on listening back, I maybe overdid the echo a bit... no matter...

feature=youtu.be

I will be working on Washer Woman and Raglan - hope to post that soon...

@Christine (moonlitday) : Thanks for posting the Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy video. I'm always amazed at Natalie's playing. I don't know if those tunes are Irish or Cape Breton tunes but it really doesn't matter as there's a heavy Celtic influence in Cape Breton fiddling.

I've seen Natalie in concert a few times and watched many of her videos but I haven't watched Donnell play much so I've never noticed until now how he holds his fiddle. It's interesting that his chin sits on the fiddle almost below the tailpiece and not on the chin rest.

@coolpinkone : Great job with Swallowtail Jig! You seem really confident with that one and I see how you've made it your own with Toni-esque nuances. :)

@BillyG : Love the medley. I particularly enjoyed Molly Malone, as my grandmother, whose parents emigrated from Ireland, used to sing it to me.

This party is off to a great start! Hopefully, more folks will show up. I hope to post my own video in the next few days.

Excellent @Schaick  and Barry @Barry ! Great Irish tunes!

Here's something a little different for me...an audio-only recording. I was going to do a video, but was playing around with my audio software today and decided to record this. This is me doing Black Velvet Band on fiddle, mandolin, tin whistle and guitar:

Cheers! time_to_drink
