Well, being Independence Day and all, and being a piece in FM's sheets, here you go -
I feel I have to say this every year to my American friends - I once again unreservedly apologize for what we Scots did to your White House in 1814, and, of course to apologize for what I've done to your fine anthem !
....Two hundred years ago a British force invaded and attacked Washington as part of the often forgotten War of 1812 with America. War was declared by the US for a number of issues with Britain: trade restrictions, the pressganging of American sailors, British support of Indian tribes and rivalry over the British North American territory (part of what was to become Canada).........In July 1814, following orders from Cochrane, Rear Admiral George Cockburn sent in a raiding party to Washington. The approaching British forced the American President James Madison and his party to flee so hurriedly that the raiding forces were able to sit down and enjoy the dinner and wine prepared for him before they burned the White House. They had already burned the Capital and the Library of Congress.
I promise we'll never try that again !

It's wonderful to see all the tunes posted in the past couple of days. Thanks for all the kind comments on mine as well.
@ KindaScratchy , I enjoyed the fiddle tune Cotton Eyed Joe.
@Barry , great selection of tunes. My favorite was Willl the circle be unbroken, and I also appreciated the nod to Suzuki's variations (or Mozart's variations, perhaps) on Twinkle.
And @ BillyG and @coolpinkone - what a great way to start off the July 4th holiday! And nice remembrance of the War of 1812 - it had a big impact on many parts of the USA, but today is barely a footnote in the history books.

@Fiddlerman - This guy needs a Party / Video Badge.
@Shane.... awesome!!! Thanks for that.
Nice sounding violin!!!! I like both of your submissions. ( I had no idea O God beyond all praising is Thaxted). I learn something new everyday. YOU did a great job of that!
Wow.. great party everyone. Thanks Bill, Fidelestre, Fiddlerman, Barry for the comments.
