Hello, I've finally got round to playing some songs this week! I attempted Simple Gifts (Lord of the Dance) - the one hymn I actually enjoyed singing in school and used The Dubliners version instead of Fiddlerman's as that is the one I'm most familiar with.

I'm not overly keen on the tone, it sound quite harsh to me. Not sure if it's the fiddle, the bow or my beginners skills.

I recorded a few pieces last night using my new portable recorder thing. It was late at night and I was on my partner's acoustic, so it I was using a practice mute.
Bach's Lullabye, though I think one would be hard pressed getting to sleep with this version.
Londonderry air, though a lot less airy and a lot more shakey. Perhaps I should have chosen a faster tempo!

Right, 7am here - need to pack the car and head off. Away for 8 days - just hoping beyond hope I can get internet access where I'm going or else it's gonna be a case of cold-turkey for me....
