Yes, please come join us! StreetJelly is free, and laid back, a nice way to try out performing.
No need to have any fancy set up, my first time playing on there I propped up my laptop on a stack of pillows.
We're all going to be playing easy beginner stuff. Will be a nice chance for the self-learners to have a try at a first recital, or for anyone to just give performing a try without worrying about being "alone"

Are you interested in performing but feel that you are not qualified, make too many mistakes, play out of tune, too scratchy, embarrassed??????Don't be!!! .....
It's all about hanging out and having fun. Putting yourself out there so to speak.
You're a beginner and everyone listening knows it. If they have a problem with it, we'll take care of them.

LOL - my "highlighting" above - too right.
Go on - take the plunge folks - honestly - you will never regret it !

Yes and yes to the above.
In case folks are unaware - there is another more "generic" thread regarding SJ ( the parent of this thread - https://fiddlerman.com/forum/s.....reetjelly/ ) in which you'll find lots of hints and tips about getting set up on http://www.streetjelly.com and general info about some of our past shows....
Visit StreetJelly and follow the "How it works?" link....
VITAL - Planning and Preparation !
If you plan taking part ( and why wouldn't you ? ) don't leave it till the very last minute to get familiarized with the SJ platform - although it's not difficult to set up, it is always beneficial to have had a quick run-through before hand just so you know your mic and cam etc are fine, and you are "comfortable" with your physical set-up (are you standing, sitting, reasonable distance from the camera, lighting etc )
If anyone wants to do a dry-run before hand - get yourself set-up, run a "test" transmission on SJ ( truly, absolutely no-one will see it, only you) - then post a message here and either I, or one of our other SJ regulars will walk you through a live first show on SJ - even if it's only 5 or 10 minutes. Use headphones or an earpiece during your test or you will get feedback, as your mic will pick up the slightly-delayed sound from your speakers and send it out again. And again. And again!!! You don't need the earpiece when playing live, only necessary in test mode.

As Billy said, feel free to ask here for help getting started on StreetJelly. It's pretty painless
I think Barry had made a video not too long ago of the basics you might need to play on StreetJelly. But if your computer has internet, web cam and mic already built in, you're all set and good to go, no need for anything fancy and expensive. But I'll have to see if that video is still floating around anywhere.

@KindaScratchy Hi Diane Our tentative time frame for now is between 5-9PM EST. If that doesn't work for too many people, it'll be changed, but right now that's what we're shooting for, give or take if we need more or less time to fit everyone in
Hope to see you there
@BillyG Will that work for you to make part of it? I don't want the timing to cut you out

Thanks for the info Mandy - @damfino - that's 10pm thru 2am here.
I'd like to be involved of course, and although I've been known to do really quite late (for me) sessions - I'd have to think about it.... I'll let you know - or once some SJ slots start being taken and show up on the SJ calendar I can maybe decide...

Charles, I imagine we'll be on during the after 6pm time frame for you to do a show So far the events I've taken part in end up running later than we think they will, haha. Hoping for a decent turn out for this one, too.
My idea is (just thinking out loud) if we start at 3PM ET and finish up by 7PM, or whenever the last person plays. If there are people wanting to play just a song or two, this time frame could fit in a number of people
Thoughts? How does this time frame work for people?

Barry ( post #17 above ) said it all ! For this get-together we REALLY REALLY want folks new ( relatively - although it IS a life-long journey without doubt ) to the instrument - just to "share where you are in your progress" - perfection is NOT expected - and the feedback you'll get will help you on your path....
We all started off somewhere !
Post a note of interest in this thread please if you are thinking about it !!!
We're all here to help in any way we can.
