That thing is super cool! The case looks like the one I have for my violin, except the box I'm using is tapered near where the scroll is. The cloth Velcro lining ripped out of both it, and the incorrect sized one I tried.
I noticed that it had a wooden bridge. Are the string and bridge the same as a regular violin, do you think changing the strings to a more expensive brand would change the sound the same way it might for a violin?

Instrument Intellect who seems to be offering the $79 dollar price would also cost S&H about $25 !!!
In any case, were you actually using a specific effect or did you dial in the sound on an equalizer function. Or both ?
However, I think I'm building a strong case for a Father's Day present here AND I can tell my wife it is endorsed by FIDDLERMAN !

Yes, I know about the problems of dialing in effects and you're right, it drives me nuts.
I have a manual on the G1. Looks great for me. With the 3 band equalizer and a few of the other things like reverb, chorus, vibrato, etc. I might actually get somewhere.
PS I got faked out here because it seems my wife will agree to me buying the effects box for my birthday (Aug.) if she can go to Vegas with my daughter to watch my son in law in a pool tournament. (She has no interest at all in pool but will surely drop a bundle at the slot machines !)

If I am able to dial in the violin electronically so as to avoid trips to a luthier, it will be well worth it. I would almost rather go to the dentist than a luthier.
Of course, I can almost do that with my 4 channel guitar amp but it only has a reverb for effects. Even at that, it is nice to be able to tweak the sound at will.

This solid body electric violin has a base sound comparable with my Zeta Jazz Fusion violin which cost me 30 times more money 10 years ago. It is easy to play and all the parts are in good working condition. Nice Ebony pegs and tailpiece with mother of pearl inlay. The violin is attractive and gives the impression of a fiddle that costs much more money. The violin includes features that you wouldn't expect to find on such a low priced instrument. The case looks really nice but the cloth lining ripped easily when I separated the velcro neck holder.
What fun! Is it true that the electric violin is easier to play than the acoustic because you do not have to work so hard on quality of sound? I am interested in a electric violin because of that fact (if its true!) and because I live in a dorm! No privacy! So I need to plug in and use headphones. Thanks for everything!
