After a jam session with some friends, they said that I wasn't bad for a self taught newbie (is that good?) They pointed out some wrong notes I was hitting. I was surprised that I had been hitting any right ones, so it got me thinking.
After doing that, I looked for a program to identify notes on the run. As long as you aren't too quick it does that. Telling you what note you just played. Though I think you might have to select the string first. Simply by clicking on it.
Anyway it is free and works on win7 and below.

It says guitar, but has a drop down menu that includes violin, violia, cello, fiddle and a few more. And the violin option has the option of cajun tuning. So cool. I suppose.
One thing I found, if you play the notes too quick it won't notice you changing or it lags. Also this is from a company that usually sells you stuff, so likely it will try to direct you there, not happened yet, but be prepared. But hey this is free and works nice. Hope it helps others.
