My 5 year old has outgrown her violin. She's doing pretty well at it. Ever seen a 5 year old doing / starting vibrato? Or harmonics? I should post a video. It's crazy. LOL. She really wants a pink violin. Anyway, I see that Mendini on KK Music makes a pink violin. Was wondering, fiddlerman, if you know anything about that brand as opposed to Cecelio. The main thing I am afraid of is the pegs constantly slipping. I can deal with just about anything else. Just not the slipping pegs.
It's $75 and comes with the same stuff as the Cecelio set up. Any thoughts?

Mendini is made by Cecilio but lower quality workmanship. I do own a Mendini 650 and it needed some work by a luthier more than my Cecilio violins but the luthier said the wood seems great. It all depends on your budget. I guess if she really wants pink, $75 is nothing but I would expect that it will need a little work if you want to put some more money into it. I got some peg compound for a couple bucks and solved all my peg problems. You can always call kkmusicstore and see if they can check one out for you before they ship it.

Yeah, there was one on craigslist a few weeks ago (not our size, I think it was a 4/4) and it said something like "my daughter really wanted a pink violin so I got her this one, but the pegs slip and even peg compound doesn't really work". That violin is essentially just wall art. A VSO - violin shaped object.
As it turns out, further research showed that no one even makes a 1/8 in pink, so that settles that question. No big deal. She'll have to muddle through somehow on a regular brown one. Poor, poor kid.

Juaniba,
Check this out, it's where I first "encountered" pink violin

Yeah, I just saw this Crystalcello model. It's really cute, certainly the right color, but I read some not so favorable reviews on eBay. One guy said his came covered in saw dust. LOL. That sounds...just....yikes.
I found a Cremona (it's brown, she'll just have to suffer) on craigslist for $40 that I'm going to go check out.
Who had to start making pink violins anyway? And why did my 5 year old have to see them? LOL.

If you have read my posts I was going to buy her a pink one to get her started, but I ended with a natural finished cvn 500 (I got it for free). I never showed her the pink ones but asked her, she actually wanted a purple one and I thought her favorite color is pink, LOL and then she said she wanted a brown one like the rental. So, that worked out fine.

This is the kkmusic add on eBay, it says they make a pink one in 1/4 size.
This particular add is probably going to end but they run that same add all the time.
I looked at your YouTube channel your kids are so cute with their instruments. It looks like you guys keep it fun for them. Good luck finding your violin.
There is another company called Crescent with even cheaper violins, but I don't know anything about them.
On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

I can't do it. I was going to buy the pink one, but I can't bring myself to buy a VSO. I just know what it's going to be like. I am holding out for a nicer one. There is a cecelio cvn-300 on ebay (it's a higher end cecelio) and it's currently at $62 with shipping. I might go for that one. Wish me luck.

juaniba,
FYI: the total length of cecilio 1/8 violin is 16.5 inches. It was too small for my 5-year old daughter -- I bought a 1/8 cvn 100, it was about 1.25 to 1.75 inch (can't remember exactly how much shorter) shorter than her rental 1/8 violin. Their 1/4 is 18.5 inches long. Besure to double check what size your daughter needs.
