Just saw this on-line and thought a few folks, like EJ, might be interested. It's a Civil War music event August 17-18 at Gettysburg National Military Park. I'd love to go myself but it's probably not in the cards since we were just away. If anyone goes, please report back and post a few pix.

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

I would absolutely LOVE to attend this!!!!  I know I'll there for the 150th anniversary, but I wish I could go to this as well!  .....maybe I can sneak off for a 10 hour drive without my wife noticing! LOL devil-violin

I love listening to how different musicians interpret music of that period!  Especially in a camp environment!  I could listen and watch for hours!  .....I just need to get to that point where I can play along with 'em! hats_off

Here's how you do it: take your wife with you. Tell her that you're taking her on a mystery get-away weekend...and you end up in...Gettysburg! And you just happen upon this Civil War music muster thing that's going on. Then you go out for a nice dinner, maybe do a little antique hunting or outlet shopping the next day. It's a win-win!

roflol

In theory that would have worked, but she knows my obsession with anything Civil War and knows that I REALLY want to go to Gettysburg, so she will be extremely suspicious! LOL But you know what?  I figured out the ratio for a happy marriage!  If I want something, I just have to make sure that I get her something of equal or greater value!  .....including trips! exactly  Now the big question!  What trip is equal (or greater) then a Gettysburg road trip? ....and what gift is equal (or greater) then an electric violin??  claprofl
