Hi @BillyG,I'm certainly inspired, motivated and now ready to commit time and effort to recording a part; I just need to know which parts (I can only do violin) are needing more participants. I only want to submit one part, but may do more than one recording of it; I feel the best way for me at this time is to concentrate on just one.
I'm also working on a solo of "Sussex Carol" as a surprise for my aged mother at Christmas. It is a simple but catchy tune.
Hi Peter @Peter - I'm not party to the individual detail - so I don't know exactly which parts Pierre has received - and I appreciate your intent to do something other than vln 1 (although if that's easiest, do it anyway - it all helps).
We should address your specific question to Pierre - @Fiddlerman - to let us know what he needs/ would prefer to have submitted. I would however put money on "most submissions so far are the melody-line" ( vln1, viola 1 ) since it's what folks hear in their head as the tune, and can "decouple" their playing away from the sheet and just on to concentrating on the click-track timing
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -

I've no problem with parts; I sang as a chorister in a church SATB years ago and there are tunes for which I can only recall the bass line of!
I'll cheerfully play one of the 'lower three' parts, and I'll print and practice the one which Pierre deems the most needful.
I'll pass the recording technical details to my youngest son, who I will also ask to perform the recording.

@Billyg and all...for me the 3,4, parts are more difficult and WILL require concentrating more as you said above.

@BillyG Your post was very inspiring. I may try to do a part, maybe viola, or maybe the violin on the Traveler!I think this is what I need to do:
1. The track that Fiddlerman said we need to download. I added the link to my homepage of my pad.
2. Have to set up a Google Drive. Did not have success before, but will try again.
3. Put a set of headphones on.
4. Play the track piece from my link and listen to it while playing and videoing myself (after much practice run through time).
5. This is where I may mess up royally. In Google Drive, I select that file. Somewhere in the process it will ask who to share it with? I hope it lets him download, I think I had an issue with that before (may have been Google Docs, though). I enter Fiddlerman’s email address? Then send it off and be ready for the earth to shake with laughing? That is not meant to dissuade anyone, just to say, have a sense of humor and fun, everyone. That is what it is about, as well as learning to play with friends in a group , even remotely. This is a great opportunity for learning to keep time and group playing, actually. I will do my best to give it a try.
Is that about it?
@Mouse - yes and no on step 5 - I find it confusing as well - I'm just in the middle of prepping dinner here and I'll get back with more detail later - but - quickly - yes you can use the email address to share to someone specific like Pierre - or - which is more obscure to find - but - strangely I find it easier - you can get a LINK to your file on Google Drive and then email THAT ( the link ) to Pierre - I find that better because you can add additional / whatever other details you want in the for of a normal email, with the link included... I'll get back to you later

For anyone on the fence wondering if it's "good enough". Just do it. My pieces are never good enough on their own. I have more issue with recording but when ever I practice with the click track, I will record. It's digital not super 8. I find the only time I get it perfect is when the camera is off.

Heyyy Stevie @ripton - 100% with you on that - you said the same as me but in a quarter of the words I used !!!! ( LOL - OK- I was being "diplomatic" in my approach when I posted ! ) Thanks Steve !

In response to the parts vs people, I'm needing more people.I won't post one persons video several times on the video. However, I do use all the audio.

And thanks Boss ( LOL @Fiddlerman ) - yeah - worth while confirming the subs you have, just in case an email, a sprend, a dropbox or whatever - for some reason didn't arrive with you. Gives a chance for folks to know, just in case something went wrong... it happens!
TY !

@Peter - Peter - there's the answer from Pierre - basically needs more "people" - I would still stand by what I mentioned earlier and although most folks would more easily follow the melody - however - with your own personal familiarity with the lower-3 - please - pick any you prefer and don't hold back ! I'm sure it will be welcomed !

Sorry I'm so late to the party but I've been having some serious back problems recently. I'm looking at the parts now, and will tape as many as I can get through tomorrow.
I noticed the 4th violin part I had was wrong (low F#s) and that there's a new one now, so I've downloaded all 4 parts that are linked on the project page again and will work off those rather than the earlier ones to be on the safe side.
Are there any other issues I should know about (to save me going through this whole massive thread)?

@Jim Dunleavy - AFAIK what you say is correct -

That, as I understand it, covers everything that may have originally been amiss.... You're good to go - no need to fully backtrack the last 60 posts !
Glad you have an opportunity to catch up !

OK, I shall learn and record Pt.II, as it's well within my comfort zone and doesn't threadle its way up the E string. I'll do my best to process this before the revised cut-off date.

WELL SPOTTED DIANE @KindaScratchy - glad all this brought it to folks notice (like, for whatever reason, one of these sort of shared transfers occasionally doesn't happen as expected) - GOOD POINT to anyone else who has already sent, but doesn't appear on Pierre's current list (as the date and time on Pierre's post) here - https://fiddlerman.com/forum/2.....4/#p104631
