@starise - I see no reason why not - there's absolutely no harm in doing one and send it to Pierre in the usual way - he can make his own judgement as to its inclusion ( a bit like the unasked-for cello part I sent, and possibly from @intrepidgirl as well ). Just, like everyone else, use the click-track in-ear so everyone's tempo is identical. Cool !

@starise - Tim - AFAIK no-one ( other than myself ) has bothered with the MusicXML file - I can get you a midi version - BUT - I don't want to discuss that here (there are "issues" between the XML file and the actual click track - which I haven't bothered sharing here (largely because I don't believe anyone uses it - it was me who asked for it originally), nor indeed with Pierre. Let me PM you (and Pierre @Fiddlerman) about this.

No worries BillyG. Don't go to a lot of trouble over it. I can likely play it in using the click and my synth as midi. Pierre might already have a drum track in mind..............first though my submission isn't showing up. I sent it to Pierre as a Gmail link. There must have been an issue.
Back to square 1.

@starise- OK - I'm trying to resolve the little "issue" I had with the XML file with Pierre before I get back to you on that. ( It was an "outstanding issue" I really should have mentioned to him earlier )
Just in passing - what's this "Gmail link" ??? possibly something I don't know about - so long as it is not sent as an actual email ( file size issues ). I used to use "sprend" as a guest user (sprend retains guest-users posts for a "few days" - it may be 6 or 7 days - but I know I have had some go missing because the recipient ( not Pierre ) didn't check their email for the link within the 6 / 7 days and it got auto deleted, and being a traditional mean-old-Scotsman - well - why pay for the "pro" service when it's free elsewhere LOLOL.... So these days I just rely on dropbox or google-drive ( there are others of course )

@starise -
Ahhh OK - same thing - was just concerned ! That should be OK.
Admittedly, I do it differently and use the "link" you can get to the Google Drive document (finding how to get the link was initially a bit obscure I have to say, I think it's been changed now and easier to get to), copy it, and then email the recipient with the clickable-link pasted into the email - best thing about that is, being a short email, you can add any additional information you want - oh I dunno - well say for stuff for the project you can add stuff like "In the credits (if I am included in the mix!) please identify me as Bill Gunn (a.k.a BillyG) - or whatever additional info you want to send.... ( well, I guess that could just be another file on Google Drive as well.. yeah - whatever )
Going back to the MusicXML -> MIDI thing - I can EASILY convert the XML of anything I can load into MuseScore to MIDI any time at all - it's a trivial task - but - for the XML for LDBoy there "appears" to be a discrepancy in the bpm timing between the XML and the "official click track" - I "corrected it locally" but since no one else is using it I thought best to check with @Fiddlerman - I'll get back once we have it clarified...

Cool @starise, no problem at all.
I like and use MuseScore a lot for general transcribing of existing sheet, and for composition. It's also got a lot of useful features in there, generally presented in the way "musicians think". It'll create score sheets in .pdf format, it happily runs external .sf1/.sf2 sound-fonts, .....ohhh - I won't go on - it's just a handy little tool to have. It's free, (under the GPL license), pretty well supported. Documentation is largely on-line and "scattered" but there's plenty of it - just add "musecore" in the google search for anything you want to find out about the program or its operation.

My apologies @Fiddlerman ! Since I am the one who bugged you to get the parts out there I should have submitted something. But as luck would have it, my grandson got sick and then he shared it with me. I had been watching him, so it was almost inevitable....
Anyhow, that all occurred across the original submission date.
Just checking in now and saw that the deadline was extended. I will do my best to get something in. I've got my recital today, and will be out of town tomorrow, but I'll try to squeeze it in somewhere.
I really enjoyed doing last years project - but I had to "make" myself submit. When I listened to my track, there was so much that I wanted to fix....... my advice to anyone who is thinking about submitting a part or two is to just do it. Pierre will work his magic, and it will sound wonderful. Don't let your self doubt hold you back! Trust me, you will love the finished product, and will love having been a part of it.
OK, time for me to dash off to my recital.

Well said @CyndieZ - couldn't agree more - ( the red italics in your quote were added by me just to make it even more prominent ! ) Hope both your grandson and yourself have recovered from the dreaded "lurgi" !

At the risk of sounding disingenuous, I really am unprepared for this project, and will save my debut for another time.
I abandoned it this afternoon, and the relief meant that this evening's regular practice was my best ever. I've been fiddling for less than three months, and I may well be making good progress, but "Little Drummer Boy" was started by me at too short a timescale to get the whole song, especially on tempo.
I see a few more 'old hands' have submitted work. I look forward to the result!
With every best wish,
Peter
