Join us in our next Fiddlerman Group Project.
"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel".

  1. Learn to play "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" together with Fiddlerman and team.
  2. Record yourself playing one to two parts found below.
  3. Send us the recording and we'll put together a Youtube video with all participants!

The deadline for submissions is Monday the 2nd of December, after which I will begin mixing all the submissions. I can't guarantee that I will use any submission received after this date. Keep posted as deadlines have been known to change. I encourage participants to learn several parts for training purposes. If the timing of your submission does not correspond with a click track file it will not be used. All submissions should be converted to MP4 (MPEG-4) with a minimum resolution of 640 x 480. Absolutely no audio only submissions.

Thanks. Down to some serious work. I was serious before, but seems "official" serious work now, 😂

Thank you!

It sounds nice on the click track. I think I will do both cello parts. 😊

Hear the four parts played together by the Fiddlershop String Quartet:

@Fiddlerman That was  BEAUTIFUL! It seemed slower than the click tracks. Am I wrong or am I not hitting the beats right? Iike the speed in your video. So majestic, mysterious and reverent. I am motivated now.

Even as a beginner, I might actually be able to play this. Lovely composition.

The video made me even more excited about the project.  Hauntingly beautiful is the perfect way to describe the song.

They are not following a click track. It's just to give a realistic idea about what the piece sounds like with all parts. Also to get you excited about the finished product.

Thanks so much Kennon. That is why I asked them to perform it. I can hear it in my head when I wrote the arrangement but it's not obvious to everyone, even if they listen to the click tracks.

I'm very much thinking about it. I'm going to print off the sheet music today.

I started playing at the beginning of this year. I played through this last night, mind you not extremely well, but with enough practice, I could get it down decently.

@Fiddlerman I have to say, even though the video is not per click track, I have found it very helpful! I was able to figure out some parts I could not get. It helped inspire me to keep at it. Since I am doing the violin, it is quite a difference. I am going to give the cello a shot after I get a good violin video. I am hoping my arm will hold out. The cello gives the arm more of a work out, and it tires more quickly.

As I stated in my blog, https://fiddlerman.com/forum/f.....1/#p141642, it went quite well today. I am usually not thinking I am making any progress when I am done, but, according to the audio I made, and how I felt, I do believe I am getting it. 👍 I have figured out how to, hopefully, strengthen my E string today.

How is everyone else doing?

I really enjoyed watching & listening to the Fiddlershop Quartet.

Will the tempo of the click tracks be slowed down now?

@Mouse I think I pretty much have the 1st violin part down, next is to try the 2nd violin part.  I really love this arrangement!

We're going to keep the click track tempo. I pretty sure that you guys would have enjoyed it just as much.

This is simply how they approached this performance. It's different in a live setting. When performing with colleagues, there’s more freedom to adjust the tempo as needed. I didn't guide them on the tempo, nor did they refer to a metronome.

Please have a look at the latest changes. I'll be updating all the parts within the week but for those of you that have printed the parts, there aren't that many changes and you can just write them in.
