Santa Paws? ABOMINABLE SNOWKITTIES? ...Yeticats?
My furballs are too well prepared for winter - they aren't going outside to help Santa, so no need for snowshoes. (lol) ...it was time to trim toenails & paw-whiskers!
I thought about taking a 'before photo' just in time for Madmartigan, but had already trimmed Bugsy, so he's the 'after photo'. (lol) Both have already managed to hide their collars somewhere, before I could get a photo - each had a jingle bell.
🤔... where did Dr. Seuss get inspiration for his characters.

Was just thinking about when I was child, one of the biggest treats of the Holiday Season was for my Folks to take my Brother and I down to the J.L. Hudson Store on Woodward Avenue, Downtown Detroit.. . . .
I know there were great Department Stores in other large cities.
Does anyone else have similar memories?
Are there any places like this left anywhere?
@ELCBK Definitely don't build stores like that anymore. Sad to see something like that torn down.
I guess Macy's in Manhatten is still iconic (because of the parade, "Miracle of 34th Street", etc.,) - you can stand in the front of the building & look down the street & see the Empire State Building.
Not quite the same, but I remember going to Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey - one of the largest shopping malls in the NY/NJ area (at the time, anyway) at Christmas time. It first opened in the 1950s. Was closed on Sundays (I think it still is) because of existing blue laws that are still on the books in NJ.

@ELCBK Madmartigan & Bugsy look like they're ready to get back into whatever they were doing before their mani-pedi
Suki has toe-tuffs, too. I don't trim them (the fur--I do clip her nails every other week). She likes running and sliding on the floor in her "socks".

@SharonC -
Did you pose Suki? TOO CUTE!
She's got some GREAT toe-tufts! I've had Himalayans with long hair, but none had toe-tufts like Suki's or my Boys - had to start trimming the fur when I realized they were running across the leather furniture and would slip - then I'd see little claw streaks where they tried to catch themselves. Same thing where I have 2 open walls that don't meet the ceiling - Bugsy's jumps up top & almost lost it a couple times, racing around up there all full of it! ...it's ridiculous how over-protective I've become.

I think I need to get back in touch with Holiday events around our area, even if I can't go out - a little snow would be nice to get me in the mood.

Btw, cool Gingerbread History... but I'll stick to the modern-day goodies! 😊

Nope, no posing--she just likes to sit like that a lot of the time. I thought it was a strange thing, but she thinks it's completely normal, so who am I to say it’s not . . .

I grew up watching Burl Ives's Christmas Specials this time of year, like many folks here.
Not my house, but I remember my Dad always picked a scraggly tree - we had some large glass ornaments that had to have space to turn & hang freely.
...and tinsel HAD to be placed one strand, per branch, at a time! 🙄 Nobody ever considered tinsel might be bad for pets. 😔

Winter Solstice today--
Also the start of Yuletide; many Christmas traditions were taken from the Yuletide customs--some history:
