@Barry - good stuff man!   I don't have a comfort-zone yet ! LOL  (soon, soon...) - for the last 24 hours I've been a "player in the dark" LOL we got  power back now though.  OK, having written that, help me out here - just what song does the line "a player in the dark" appear in? .....  damn I'm getting old....  was it from a Dr. Hook track, or even Bryan Ferry?   No idea....   that sorta thing annoys me.... ohhh - found it - it was the album title...  I feel much better now having once again pushed back the onset of senility !

I'm in! Haven't scheduled my show yet but I will soon.

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Intrigued but 30 minutes scare the notes out of me... Yes I can practice for an hour but I really can't say I have that many tunes I can play start to finish. Or at least in one straight shot from first to last note....  there's usually a lot of restarting. I guess  could pull Book 1 Suzuki for Viola out and let er rip from that... How many songs would I realistically need to have ready to go? On a second thought IF I can get the girls out of the house for an hour I may just be able to get away with it... How often are musicians playing on Street Jelly? sweden-4231

Figure out a play list. Play it from start to finish taking your time.  See how long you have.  Don't forget you can chat a bit in between songs and say hi to people.

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Just finished figuring out my set list.  I'm doing 15-17 songs.  Don't know about 2 of them yet.  Depends on time.

Good plan there @Georganne - I have picked 15 here, with about 10 of which I'm "well happy" with - but as usual, given how the chat and feedback goes, I've got other "improv" / "unfinished" bits I'm happy to share / get feedback on during the SJ time ( I do feel I'm pushing it a bit for the full hour....  but y'all know me - I'll fill in one way or another - even if that means having to end up telling jokes about Scotsmen... which - should anyone be "offended" is permitted, since I am one )

I've also embraced the FM 35-day challenge - and not just to "make the pieces I can play even better" (although that comes into it), but of course to attempt to improve my playing in general, set goals, and so forth.

It's all good, and these things ( both the 35 day challenge and live performance on SJ ) give us the motivation to get-down-and-do-it and for every tune to own-it, make it our own, and "bring it on home"....

Looking forward to the next fiddlefest !

@RockingLR33 - it's a 24 hour planned thing - last FiddleFest finished after about eight or so performers - ( like when Barry and LeeAnne fell asleep while playing guitar to "sing us all out" -  LOL @Barry - j/k with yah man!) -

If you can fit a performance into your schedule for that day - please go for it - there will always be someone to watch, regardless of timezone !   I'll be there !  Don't hold back, just go for it !

I would love to do the challenge but February I am busy with dog races.  I'll be gone for over a week for the Yukon Quest (our 1000 mile international sled dog race).  I work at one of the remote checkpoints, not racing lol.

@Georganne that sounds very very cool and very very fun.  I have read a bit here and there of the "sled dogs" and I find them fascinating.   I love the whole Freezing Alaska, dogs, sleds... etc.   I have never been in a cold environment.. I find it fascinating and yet scary / maybe the word is adventurous.  I hope so much some day to go to an icy cold land and spend some time.

And I can't wait for more people to sign up for Fiddlerman Jamboree!!!!!

I'll have to say a most definite, "MAYBE". I need to see what my out of town schedule is as it gets closer and chat with my fiddle partner.

thumbs-up

@coolpinkone - since it's still over 4 weeks away, best bet is to check out the SJ site itself to see those already committed - myself, Feathers, Barry, 1stimestar have slots at the moment.   Without doubt more will slot in before the day.

Ripton, You can absolutely share the 30 minutes with someone else who doesn't want to do a whole session. 15 each for example. :)
I think the more the merrier.

@Ripton - So far, I'm the first / earliest performer ( UK timezone ) - and I "booked" an hour slot - frankly - and I mentioned it before - I'm pushing it to do that - so you are perfectly welcome to take / overlap my last 30, 20 or 15 minutes - whatever you are happy to do.  Admin got it - the more the merrier - so if part of my time-slot suits your own timezone - feel free - just set up your SJ schedule, overlapping mine, and I'll change mine.

That goes for ANYONE who cares to jump in - but leave me at least with my first 30 mins !

Cheers folks!
