One of the great motivations to practice is knowing that you will be performing. The Streetjelly FiddleFest that Barry has organized a few times has been a great success and we don't want it to stop. It's just as exciting for the performers as for the audience. As Barry suggested, we should have a FiddleFest on a regular basis and I for one suggest that we shoot for February 21st.

well you already know Im in..LOL. I'll get with Frank on the date, he was asking me about it yesterday as we want to have it in the newsletter for Feb.

@Fiddlerman    write me a 2 or 3 paragraph blog about who you are, the forum and your shop including the secret code and email it to me.  Also, with your permission Id like to use the fiddlerman.com  on the banner, as Im going to merge it with the Streetjelly.com and create a special show banner.

As this is my 3rd time organizing this Ive learned a few things that will make it run smoother. When you schedule your show, please put "fiddlerman Jamboree" in the headline.

Also right after the fiddlerman Jamboree, add your show length. Example :

fiddlerman jamboree 1/2 hour     or if its an hour show "full hour"  , dont put 7-7:30 for example because the website software adjusts to your time zone. So if Im looking at a show in a different time zone it shows me what time it starts in my time zone.. get it ?

theres been confusion in the past while scheduling these shows where people would do a 20 or 30 minute show and we would have a half hour without a fiddler. Thankfully we had fiddlers that jumped in and filled some spots.. a big thank you to Paul and Juan.

You can schedule anytime starting now if you'd like. Sooner the better as it will let people see what slots are open.

For you new fiddlers, go to streetjelly.com and sign up for a free artist account. Broadcast and do a "sound check" (short test show), and play a couple tunes, the reason being it wont show your pic and scheduled show on the board until youve done a show. 5-10 minutes is all thats needed.

We have quite a few streetjelly veterans here now and Im sure if Im not on to answer questions, they can also help. They will also calm your nerves if you have them as they have been through this and it really is a no pressure great site that welcomes all skill levels.

Looking forward to the show, I'll stay in touch

I knew that I could count on you for guidance :) Great tips for sure.
And permission to use Fiddlerman.com you have without question.
Thanks.

I would be willing to throw something in there if I'm available.

I'm in!  30 minutes.  Will make all other members of the family get off the internet for that time frame so I don't freeze up again.

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Me too !   Again, it will probably be (in U.S. timezones) "early-ish" - maybe's around 4 or 5pm your time - but I'll make sure I make it clear by leaving it to the SJ site to show it in your local time..  the fact it will really be damn near midnight for me, is just *my* problem !!! LOL    I appreciate you organizing this, and I like the idea of a "regular" FiddleFest...  cool beans...

Can I just be part of the audience and not participate?  How does that work?   :)

@Shell , why not participate? Bet you'd have a bunch of fun.

You could just watch though, all you'd have to do is to go to streetjelly.com on the date of the event and you'd see a bunch of fiddlers fiddling around. :P

You can absolutely just watch, its the audience that makes it so fun. We chat between tunes and have a great time.

Also you can buy tokens and tip the artists, its really a great site.

@augustoad    I saw you were thinking of busking on the streets, this is much better, you can busk from the comfort of your home  :)

@Barry , I'd say it's different. There's a lot of difference between being face-to-face with someone watching you and being watched on a screen as you play. I don't see the audience there, just read their comments, while I'd be dealing with people and their appraisal and critique live. They're both great experiences, though, that I'm sure. :D

I used to play guitar and sing on the streets, it was alright but there is a lot of bull to put up with out there too. guess Im getting old and like to keep my instruments safe and warm and play at my leisure .

Right, that's me scheduled.   Come ON - someone from the more eastern part of the world - ( like Oz-land where today is already tomorrow ) - don't let me be the first to go on!  Bad enough being 11:00 pm local time here !  @Barry - and others - I've called out a full hour - but if anyone wants to fit in 30 mins in your timezone - go for it - set it up, let it overlap mine, and I'll change my sched to 30 mins - no problem... otherwise, I'll do my best to kick it off...

We do it good, don't we just?  Rock on !

I'm cool with it, just giving the option / alternatives for other folks.  Happy to do the intros, and make a fool of myself for an hour, no prob, I'm well used to that!

And as far as your signature goes -  "There is no shame in playing twinkle, youre playing Mozart" - well - no - I do not yet have the TWELVE variations - but 6 should fill out an hour ( man, I'm kidding with yah ! Really, there will be something else ! )

BRING IT ON FOLKS !

EDIT: Oh - the 12 variations - here (piano) - SO - play THAT on fiddle Bill.....  ( errr NO! not blooming like likely yet... )   NOTHING WRONG with twinkle... great for runs, arpeggios, fun stuff and "tempos" etc I don't even know the name of yet - but can / try to play - simple stuff - and not so simple at the same time....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?.....OXdAa-G4bo

EDIT: Listen to the end if it sounds "boring" (and it's not, really) to start with... LOL - SWEET!

Yea and my session was even cut short due to screen freeze.  This time, I'm keeping my kids off the internet!

^5's @Georganne great to have you on-board again!!!!   I've got all of 512k "so called" broadband - at least the audio seems to get out just about OK for feed to SJ - vid probably is a bit "jumpy" and broken - cant do anything about that!   But yes, if like me you have cr4p broadband, keep the little nippers away from their computers/laptops/iPads/smartPhones etc etc etc while you are broadcasting !!!!!!! LOL - THATS THE WAY TO DO IT !!! ( just say "no supper for you if you go on to the internet" - that usually gets 'em !!!  LOL )
