Likewise - seems OK...
The chat is horribly quiet though..... which I don't understand - I appreciate we had issues with the "old chat" and trolls, idiot posters etc from time to time - but I don't "get" the difference between the "online" folks ( with avatars ) and the "guest" count (who never seem able to post)... are these "guests" actually FM forum members who are not actually logged in to the FiddlerMan site, or are they some kind of "third-party" ( non-forum members - which we got LOADS of on the old chatwee app ? ) I have no idea - but it just feels we have lost something - in the current chat - it;s just the few folks, from the forum, who participate - on the old chat we had all sorts of stuff - (admittedly, some we had to delete - BUT ) - on the old chat I know for a fact I drew in at least half a dozen new members from posters asking questions - this just does not happen on the new chat, for whatever reason/ OK - I appreciate that was off-topic - bit it seemed worthy of mention @Fiddlerman
Hey hey hey - specifically @Fiddlerman - I would delete the user @Fiddlermangiftcardraffleglarl ..... it;s a shopper scam and is too close to "admin" as the user id..... and probably intentional...
Getting back to the point - I must say - over the years ( LOLOL - OK only been here for 3 ) - don't know the reason, but I have seen the occasional period where forum posts just fall-off from time to time - could just be coincidence...

@BillyG I agree that the chat has been oddly quiet. I know you can choose to post as a guest, but people might be turned off by it asking you to log in? Or just don't see the chat box? The other day I did have a second and popped in but the chat box was claiming it was over capacity and wouldn't let me post (it wasn't, our capacity is 100 and there were maybe 20 people on).
For the forum, it has been quiet, but I always noticed in years past on forums I used to chat on that there were always lulls. They tended to be around holidays, nice weather, graduations, etc. Typical times people get busy with things, forum chatter activity would fall off.
I know for myself right now, my normal chatting time on here was during the slow time at work, and I had time to pop in and chat. Our busy season kicked into high gear all of a sudden, and my chatting time fell off (haven't taken a break or lunch at work in a while, haha), then nice weather started and so did the yard work (yuck). I still try to post but I know I don't post as much as I am reading on here, sometimes I type a comment and it doesn't seem like my sleepy brain is making sense so I just don't post it, haha. It looks like a lull at work is around the corner, so I might get back to normal here soon

Hi @Fiddlerman I was just thinking about one of my favorite videos of yours, the "Duet minus one". I really liked that idea, especially when I was starting out as it gave me a great guide to follow. Any chance of you putting up a few actual duets where you just do the one piece and we have do play the other, like the duet for Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah? (hint hint). Any simple duet would do, it is a nice exercise of following along and playing harmony, which I am not too good at yet.

@intrepidgirl - I second the above ! - although having said that - Pierre has started issuing weekly videos on YT - we're at week 6 so far - here's the YT link to week #1 - just subscribe to the channel on YT to get updates as the get published - - I'm sure many of these, with the partial walk-through / hints / suggestions / comments from Pierre would be useful for play-alongs....

It has been quiet here lately, but I see the same trend on my brewing forum. Forums are in the doldrums a bit lately and my theory is everyone is using Facebook groups to ask about their hobbies.
Although FB has severe limitations when it comes to retrieving information posted a while ago, people can get almost immediate answers on there, it's very easy to use on mobiles and uploading photos is straightforward. I'm looking at getting the latest responsive forum software (I use phpBB which is free) that works well on mobiles to try to encourage people to use the forum rather than FB, but it's an uphill struggle to keep things going.

Thank you so much @intrepidgirl for mentioning that video (Duet minus One). I had not stumbled across that before, and just had a total blast with it. Even added some of my own embellishments.
Please, please, PLEASE do some more of these @Fiddlerman !!!!!
On the forum question, I think Jim has a point about the social media apps. But I would think that there is a place for a forum that is as specific as this one. Is there a link from the Fiddlerman FB page directly to the forum? Maybe that would help drive some traffic.
I don't always get to log on to the forum every day, but I do try to several times a week. When I look at the Fiddlermanchat box there are less people logged on than there were when I first started perusing the Fiddlerman.com site back in 2016. But I have no explanation for why that is.

@CyndieZ - yup - a number of us work it "both ways" - the forum contains a HUGE amount of shared information - in fact so much it can sometimes be hard to home in on a subject via the "Search" box - and that often ends up in similar questions simply being asked again - I guess that's unavoidable - but the forum is an absolute MINE of information should folks choose to make the effort to uncover it.... My second approach is to use FB, having FB-friended a number (around 20) of our currently active forum members - it's a great, super-immediate-way to exchange ideas and thoughts about what we're doing, and unlike forum posts - which can easily be missed once ten new posts have been made, you always get notified of FB posts... sure - you CAN of course use the forum to look for all "new" posts - it's just the FB environment is, to me, much more immediate... The way I see it is that both platforms serve their own, somewhat different purpose (and BTW - it's about the only reason I actually use FB !) - and I'm not at all sure how the forum and FB groups could be "better-connected"...
