@BillyG @ABitRusty  Some of these “international incidents” are good foe a laugh. Sooner or later BillyG will find something that is good for over there and not for here, then we will be even. 😁

ahh an art lost from the Ulsters when they came across the ocean.  In the absence of their treasured carrot recorders I suspect people 'round here developed other ingenious ways to pass time.  here is a short eefin' lesson.  With the carrot, a nice mixing platform an some wiz bang daw plugins you could have an eefin' good time.  so to speak.

Hmmm @BillyG  and @ABitRusty

I wonder if it matters how ripe that carrot is. Maybe it plays sharp if it is not ripe enough and flat if it is too ripe.

A curved carrot gives you sliding notes.

Kind of puts new meaning to, “Sing for your dinner”, doesn’t it.

More vegetable instruments, anyone?

Here's the Long Island Vegetable Orchestra. The string instruments are made of bamboo from someone's home garden.

And a clip from China's Got Talent. Even if you don't speak Mandarin, you can probably get the gist of what's going on: the playing is so good one of the judges thinks it's fake and asks for a demonstration of some of the instruments.

The pair of potato ocarinas is impressive too. Can't really see the holes because of the video quality, but he's definitely fingering notes.

it is surprising the quality of vegetable instruments coming out of different regions now.  part of the process is to make sure they are properly aged in humidity controlled environments before cutting into them for the instrument.  one drawback for traditional vegiuthiers is that the imports have driven down prices for the older mom and pop shops to a point that they are unable to compete.  if you can get your hands on a vintage German squashello, id say hang on to it.  theyre only going up in value.
