Fiddlin' in Sydney

This giant Fiddle, a symbol of Cape Breton's music culture, sits at Sidney's harborfront.

I wonder if the strings sound. Also wonder if the pegs work the same way as a real violin. You'd have to be pretty strong to tune it. Probably with two people and two good lifts we could play something on it. cheers

The enormity of that statue.. Well, it reminds me of Claes Oldenburg. His large scale artwork is just.. Phenomenal. Inspiring and amazing. Imagine playing an instrument of such.. Enormity. It would be an amazing feat indeed :D

I would love to do one in any case. I was thinking that I can organize a Fiddlerman meet for next summer, with everyones help, where we work on prearranged pieces, chosen as a group, and perform them at the end. A great place to meet would be one of these fiddle camps that Oliver was talking about.

At the same time, it would be SUPER cool to do a flash mob. This is one of my many wild and crazy ideas that may never happen.embarassed
