I have been removing a link about numerology in posts. It is for some organization with “sun” in its name. I suggest you do not click any links in a post where the poster is replying to a thread, or starting a thread, talking about anything relating to numerology.

That link takes you to a page (I copied and pasted to a device I do not use for anything of any importance - it just still works for searching) that says it is a “404 Page not found : ( “ When I Googled that organization it was reminiscent of, in my opinion, Miss Cleo from days of your when she had her psychic adds spamming the TV ads.

I removed a link again today from the Cremona thread. I think the reply may have been removed by another admin who was on that page as I was removing the link because that reply was gone when I saved my edit, and my edited version did not appear. Either that, or as my pad screen was jumping around, I hit to delete the reply instead. LOL Either way, the link was removed.

The link so far, has been showing up in the “Cremona Kreisler violin model number” thread in the “The Violin” section of the forum. But it might appear elsewhere in the future.

I know the name of the poster and will ban and recommend removal if I see one by him again.

Just a little heads up about a possible troublesome link going around. I did a look at all new posts overnight and did not see any other posts with that link.

Yes, there was another one earlier today @Mouse and I just deleted it regardless using the PDFTT approach,  (from a different member, BTW)

Fair enough, there is a "breakroom" for off topic subjects, and if the poster took the time to understand the forum structure, and posted it there, then such a post MIGHT, just might, be looked upon favorably - and only maybe......

But really, IMO, such things belong on social media platforms (which this is not) under titles such as pseudo-science-and-general-quackery.

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Based on the link, I do not think it is meant for anything other than spamming and does not belong here. It seemed shady to me. Like those lonely hearts call lines and you get stuck with a big phone bill. I think if anyone here is interested in numerology, they can just google it. Know what I mean. It is not like even sharing anything worthwhile off topic. Just meant to get you on that site. They keep using the same broken link. 😂 I think they are logged into that site when copying the link and since from here the link is for that member, and the member is probably logged out when on this site, it is not working from here. You have to join it.

You must have deleted it when I was editing it to remove the link to let the poster know it was not acceptable, in case he was a legit member. I think he and the poster higher up in the thread are in cahoots. Both joined in January and both spammed the same thread. Fiddlerman knows about the first. We were not sure about banning or removing him yet. Could be the same person. One joined early Jan the other late Jan. Keeps using the same thread. Probably because of the numbers (violin model number) used and so is trying to work it into his spam message. The replies were similar in how they linked it to the thread they spammed.

I told the first one who did it to check the forum rules. LOL He didn’t and did the link again, and I deleted it again. He has not been back, unless it was the same person this time.

Anyway, we got it and this warning is up for future spams from this spammer we don’t catch early.
