Since I not have to connect my personal cell phone number to this account, and it will be free, I will probably download the app when my instructor is all set. I will create a separate Miscrosoft account for it so I am not using a good email address for the Skype through Microsoft. I can delete the Skype account without worry, if I do that. I think I know the email address I used for the Microsoft account, but I am not positive.
Thanks again. If this does not work, I will see if I can send a video to him periodically and/or send him questions I have and do it that way and pay as needed.
He really wants me to keep going and we are working together on this. I am his only adult student and the store owner said he is enjoying teaching me. I said, “He must be a glutton for punishment!” I am slow on the take trying to get the bowing and fingering coordinated to be able to do any speed, and we are working on that. Some of it just has to do with stiffening joints and the fact that I can’t use my knees the way you are supposed to when holding it anymore and have had tp adjust. This makes it a little less stable and a little harder to get the C and A strings when bowing, but I am not giving it up.

Sorry I'm getting back here a little late cid. I made a user name for my account and it is not way tied to my landline. I don't really have a
landline" like in the old days. I get my phone as part of a cable package that includes cable TV, Phone and internet.
How is that going for you? Have you tried it yet?

Hi, @starise.
I will get my first Skype lesson Friday, April 3(?), late afternoon. I am keeping my fingers crossed. We usually have good internet but since everyone is home, and many working over the internet, my internet has seemed sluggish at times. Spectrum out here does not seem to be able to handle it smoothly.
I did send him a PDF a week and a half ago of the Bach “Bourrèe I” that I marked the shifts, strings and fingering I was using to make sure I got it right. A lot closer than I had thought. There were two ways I was doing it. Turns out it was a combination of the two.
I am looking forward to Friday’s lesson. If it does not work because the Skype is just too choppy, I will see if I can just send him questions. If he had Apple, I could FaceTime.
I will let you know how it goes.

My lesson on Friday was switched to Saturday. It was also done on FaceTime. I got locked out of that Skype account. Such a pain. i really disdain all these stupid accounts, passwords and usernames.
Turns out my instructor has an iPad not used in months. We decided to do Friday’s lesson on Saturday and her would set up his iPad for FaceTiming the lesson.
I posted information about my thoughts for my cello lessons with FaceTime in the “Learning to Play” section because it would be applicable to violin/viola, too. Here is a link:
