I got my old student violin out today, just so it's played every once it a while and doesn't just sit there.
My 4 year old came in unexpectedly and wanted to play, I let her go ahead. She's been "playing" all day. Surprisingly she's got a fairly decent tone going, considering.
She usually fiddles with her two plastic golf club sticks.

I just bought her a very cheap Mendini Cecilio violin on ebay (less than 40 bucks) should arrive next week. I'm not expected anything more than a toy quality violin thingy.  She's not exactly gentle with stuff, so I didn't want to get anything expensive.

I hope I made the right decision.

It's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself. Johann S.Bach

I think it's GREAT idea!

I've only had my Viola out since I got it (my poor Mortimer got put in his case) - since it's big, my Grandkids have fun plucking the strings if I finger the notes and they like for me to hold it so THEY can use the bow.

I want SO BADLY to let one try the ½ size violin (we found 2nd hand) & take it home, but there's SEVEN & they don't each have their own room - or really ANY time just to themselves.  It means kinda a free-for-all and it's SO FRAGILE looking!

Hard to keep anything safe from our youngest, right now - he's like Bamm-Bamm Rubble from the Flintstones! 😖

It cant be a wrong decision, if she takes to it she is the right age at which she may actually achieve something in the violin world, at the very least she will develope a love of music and that cant be bad. Just think by the age of twenty she will have been playing 16 years.

I would suggest if she enjoys it get her a teacher..

You cant get a better time, the mind is pliable and receptive, it will become second nature, dont miss this chance.

Cant beat a sunny day
