@terezka - here's the thing I was referring to in the Xmas project thread....
Is it a violin? Is it a viola ? Is it a cello ? Actually, nope, it's none of the above - it's a bit of a mutant-ninja-fiddle....
4/4 fiddle, restrung C, G, D, A becomes a viola. ( well, sort of ). Electronically drop the viola sound by an octave - woo hoo - I got me a cello. ( well, sort of ! )
The piece was of course only played once - the original actual audio (viola part) captured by studio mic. The "cello" part was caught by the $5 piezo pickups stuck on the back and fed through a BOSS ME80 guitar effects box, set to drop frequency by 1 octave. The two voices (actual audio and the BOSS ME80 output) were subsequently recombined for the "dual instrument" version....
The "cello" sound is actually better than the 'raw' viola IMO !!!!
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)
