What do most repair people do when the customer specifies "PC"? I know what I do, but I'm wondering what is usually done.

It depends on if by playing condition you mean the set-up. As for set-up, I'm referring to  bridge height, curve, spacing on both the bridge and nut. Fingerboard shaping, soundpost cut, length, and placement. Tailpiece after length and such. All of this affects the playing condition.

The neck angle projection is also very important and can greatly affect the sound of the instrument. Not a very easy fix but there are several ways of correcting the angle.

Also you have the thickness of the plates, graduations, varnish, gluing which are not standard or even common adjustments made.

We usually judge and work on the set-up. We always let the customers know if the projection is low. Wear and tear is usually not an issue.
