Loved this video, thanks, ozmous.
Notice @:34 and again at 6:45 how they hold the violin in their left hands, the thumbs are not under the neck but the violin is resting in the fork of the thumb and index finger.
@5:03 he say's " rumbles and growls"....... sounds like mine..always growling, maybe it's the rosin. Ya think ?

So true about moving up to higher position's. When I hold / support the violiin with my thumb under the neck, I lose track of where I am and tend to be off key when I get back to the open G, which I use on many song's for a last note in the run. My thumb doesn't stick up quite as high though, I lost 1/2" of it in a power-planer accident 40 yrs ago.
