thank you @elcbk. theres nothing wrong with tunes.. just seeing what others thought about it.
haha thank you @stringy.. yeah i guess we would need to define what a mistake is. 🙂 the tunes are coming along though... i feel like i picked up the peelers and roscommon pretty quick.. but i still have the usual tempo limit i cant seem to surpass. and my intonation sloppy on E string.
thanks @mouse ! for listening and giving page 20! 🤪
I think, you are getting to hung up on speed, its up to you what speed you play at, how many times have you heard tunes turned from something really quick to a lament.
Good example star of the county down, can be played quick or slow sounds as good both ways, I also didnt hear any intonation prob, I would have to listen again harder, maybe I will hear something out, but the reality is the vast majority of people wont hear anything , and everyone is their own worst critic, sounds bob on trust me.
I think you should gve yourself a pat on the back, you definately have got the rythm and beats bang on, I have to concentrate and still get them wrong., I have been doing a new veraion of the tenpenny bit I recently heard, which I like but I must have heard a thousand different ways of playing it.
Cant think of a middle tune, but the overall sound reminds me of a tune I cant put my finger on. but I will get it
Cant beat a sunny day

thank you for the encouragement Stringy! Its not usually the whole tune or the whole set thats a speed issue... usually a few measures here and there that need work. although theres just an upper limit for me that always seems just below where everyone is playing 🤨🙂
im bellyaching a little..ignore it.haha.
As far as roscommon... i hear laffertys reel on the B part of roscommon.
this guy has some great play along videos... i used this one some to practice with

@ABitRusty -
Lafferty's is another great tune & would almost sound like you extended 'The Roscommon' with variations, because of their B Parts.
My only suggestion for playing all 4 tunes - I would play the 2 Dmaj tunes 1st, then the 2 Edor tunes. I think it has more impact, emphasizing the mood change (just my preference).
I definitely like Volant's tutorials (Maggies Pancakes) - he forces you to think about tempo, but you gotta do whatcha gotta do.
You have a great groove that would be sacrificed for speed. I just accept there's more than one way to play any tune. Still think YOU should start up a 'slow' session' & invite your friends to relax a little - might be surprised at how many musicians may have wanted one, but afraid to ask!
Tone... after I heard Andrew Bird be like meh... $8000 to $10,000 starting point for a 'playable' fiddle.

The set sounds good together, your style is developing very well.
I've had the opertunity to play a couple of expensive fiddles North of 15K, and while they were nice, not that nice.
Mics and mic placement along with the recording room, pre and post processing have so much to do with making a fiddle sound good.
I Know my recordings sound nothing like my fiddle sounds Live, very aggravating when listing back to the sound of the recordings.
Just my 2 cents

Master the Frog and you have mastered the bow.
