Hi Emily,

I think "Shanghai Hornpipe", composed by Keith Sharp should also be included in the poll.  If not for the upcoming group project at least for the next.  What a wonderful suggestion.  It would have parts for all levels and as an added bonus most of the parts would already be written so it would a lot less work for Fiddleman as well.  I'm sure his schedule is already quite full.

So, yes, I do think this piece could be included in the poll for the upcoming group project.

I opened my case today for a practice session and my violin looked so lonely. I think it's craving the companionship of 50 other violins in a Fiddlerman Group Project. How does your violin appear to you? Just wondering.

Happy Fiddling.

@Grandpafiddle , @rabn -

While we are all waiting for Fiddlerman to have some time to work on a Group Project, won't you consider visiting our "Party Room"?

We'd all LOVE to have you join in any one (or ALL) of the existing Parties or maybe start your own theme!

I might of missed some posts. What other pieces are we choosing from right now? Does someone mind summarizing it for me?

Should we make a poll and finally choose one?

Hi everyone.

Earlier in this discussion I mentioned combining two songs into one the way Susanna did with Faded Love and Maiden's Prayer. Check out the unique way Alessia Disimino combines Moon River and Edelweiss. Back and forth from one to the other.

She also has her version of Ashokan Farewell with a very simple second part harmony on her youtube channel. A beautiful lady playing beautiful music. Hope you enjoy!

@Grandpafiddle - Excellent idea. If someone was a good arranger, I could see one group playing a tune with an intro to a different tune that was picked up by a second group that then passed it back to the first group. Maybe first group violins, second violas, and maybe even a third group of cellos.

Would be different!

@Grandpafiddle -

That is VERY COOl!  I even like the idea of a medley. 😊

My humble opinion is:

We have even more suggestions than even the most recent list in this thread - it's the broad scope of our collective interests at this time.

Think this is now on Fiddlerman to choose either something from the list, something similar, or something else he wants to do.

Not so sure a poll is a good idea, since this IS still a 'Fiddlerman' Group Project.

I, personally, don't like the idea of pressuring anyone to create something that isn't in their heart.

@Fiddlerman

Pierre - maybe you can come up with another idea you'd enjoy working on for us and maybe start by just naming a title of your next Group Project?

giphy.gif

...maybe, something like "Fiddlerman's Funky Fugue"? 😁

@Fiddlerman -

Can you take any down time, yet - to create a Group Project?

Halloween's creeping around the corner!

Maybe a "Fiddlerman's Frightening Fantasia"

Or, if you need more time, possibly a "Fiddlerman's Christmas Chaconne"

...you really don't have an issue getting participants!

I can, however, I like to be way ahead of the game to avoid stressing to finish.

How about this one? "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg
I could perhaps write an arrangement.

Here is a sample that I recorded a while ago.

but the one who needs the least."

Key of F or D?

Why not the original B minor instead of D?

Nice to have the lower pitch.

Similar question. I know it's doable. My orchestra played this as a side-by-side performance with a youth orchestra program. Our musicians, and the kids in the upper intermediate to advanced orchestra, played the original parts. The kids in the beginner to lower intermediate orchestra played simplified parts, which had to also be in B minor so they could play alongside us.
