Check out the “Let it Snow” Xmas 2020 Group youtube project!”
Not intending to gum up the works, but ran across this interesting piece while looking at Cello and Viola versions of Hornpipes for the recent Party.
"Shanghai Hornpipe", composed by Keith Sharp.
💥 Kate Francis has video help for each part here, at her YouTube site (Violin 1 & 2, Viola and Cello). Definitely doable - I'm sure Fiddlerman would break down even simple parts for beginners.
Here, performed by the Daayo Youth Orchestra of the Texas D/FW area!
Alfred Music describes the Grade 3 Score:
"A catchy tune featuring fun fiddling, alternating time signatures, pentatonic patterns, and modulation to the relative major key! This piece is just plain fun for students as well as a definite crowd-pleaser! All parts take a turn at one of the main themes. Various bowing styles and textures provide a wide range of educational and musical experiences. Optional ottava and third position for the first violins."
"Ottava" is a new word for me - meaning, written an octave higher or lower!
...maybe worth checking out for a future Fiddlerman Group Project!
Individual parts aren't scary at all. 😊
I think "Shanghai Hornpipe", composed by Keith Sharp should also be included in the poll. If not for the upcoming group project at least for the next. What a wonderful suggestion. It would have parts for all levels and as an added bonus most of the parts would already be written so it would a lot less work for Fiddleman as well. I'm sure his schedule is already quite full.
So, yes, I do think this piece could be included in the poll for the upcoming group project.
@Grandpafiddle , @rabn -
