Great fiddling! I can't play anything with any speed! I was looking at your chickens. I used to have a bunch of bantys. All I wanted was an ignorant rooster running around the yard and crowing in the morning. I got a Murry McMurry hatchery catalog and the min order was 25, I ordered 25 straight run in about 10 varieties. It was a very cold weekend when they shipped the day old chicks so they doubled the order to ensure as many as possible survived the trip. I wound up with 51 chickens, three died within days. I had Old English Game Cocks, really neat birds, very docile. Cochins, Barred Rocks, Silkies, Polish, Black Giant, and many others I can't recall. I also had 4 Bourbon Red Turkeys, 2 toms and 2 hens. And one guinea foul. It was a noisy place for a few years! Lots of eggs, but they were tiny, like pigeon eggs!

Sounds good Berry, that gives me encouragement. I've been tring to learn Garry Owen but the speed isn't there. I tried cripple creek several years ago but wasn't practicing consistently so pretty much forgot everything I learned. Was trying to learn on my own, was hard to stay motivated. This forum has given me a drive and desire to stick with it. I have learned more in the past three Months than I ever have. It's people like that gives the rest of us new guys hope.

Where can I find a copy of Gary Owen sheet music? I loved the movie "Little Big Man" with Dustin Hoffman. He was getting ready to kill himself and heard Custer's Calvary approaching playing Gary Owen. He hired on as an indian scout and led Custer to his doom!

This seems to be the most popular Gary Owen piece. Flute music always works great on the violin: http://www.flutetunes.com/tune.....ryowen.pdf
