Dear members,

I need help with Graphics to be used for Badges, Trophies, Awards, Metals. I now know how to display the graphics on our profiles and will be awarding digital graphics for various achievments such as posting a video of yourself or participating in our group projects, etc. If you are talented working with graphic art and or have great ideas for badges, we would be very grateful for some good help.

That being said, if we don't end up using your ideas, realize that the final choices will be based on taste as is with so many things in life. :)

I like the idea of having "fiddles", "Performance" banner, musician trophy, perhaps a player too. Will feel like a standardized size will appear best on our profiles. That is yet to be determined but the size can be changed later. :)

Let the ideas begin.

I offer my ( somewhat unhelpful ) contributions of - badges of merit for the following levels -

"Screecher",

"Scratcher",

"Scraper",

"Can Bow consistently",

"Ahh cr4p, I'm outta tune",

"Yeahhh - good intonation on D scale",

"Got a few a few key sigs in tune - but not Bb yet (Thaxted grrrrr...!)",

"No vib yet",

"Staccato awaiting",

"Trills - what are they?",

"Ahhhh managed a tune",

"posted first audio",

"felt good enough to post a vid",

"Yeahhh - I'm on my WAY",

"Damned nice playing",

"Wow - THAT WAS GOOD - it worked for ME and I'm happy",

LOL - sorry - clearly not serious @Fiddlerman - that was just my last 7 months here - but is a kind of private "measure" of day-to-day progress !  Nahhh we don't need badges for that....  I was a-kidding with yah, but I like the concept - I'll think a bit more about it....

@Bill,

You may be joking and making fun, but how many of those hit home. hehehe. I am so talented, I could win multiple of those awards even just tuning my violin.

@FM I know my way a round Photoshop a bit. Post more about size and if you will, then what format is best for your use - GIF, JPG, or PNG images. Let us have a few days to grind through some ideas. perhaps the weekend or longer. I imagine they could always be changed or appended to suit the "immediate" need at the time.

LOL Bill but yes, we need title ideas for these awards as well. I realize most of them were in jest but please come with these type of suggestions as well. Looks like we already have someone who is willing to make the badges and has sent me several great ideas. Just waiting to see if any other suitable ideas arrive to me via PM or email.

I like this idea. Wish I knew how to help in the graphics department but I can add a couple suggestions to the list. I'd love to see ones for the group projects and for those brave enough to man their own group projects and definitely for anyone participating with the traveling fiddle project.

I didn't think about the traveling fiddle. Good idea.

How about a badge / badges for folks who demonstrate luthier-like ability ?  Such as violin re-construction, internal modifications, hints, tips etc on SP adjustment, even bridge making ?   Trying to think of a good name/s - "Technician", "Engineer", "Constructor".... "Luthier" itself sounds a bit "over impressive" ( LOLOL ) - I dunno - but folks doing something along these lines sure deserve a badge of their own - such posts do bring a great amount of interest and technical detail which goes beyond the "music" and "into the instrument" to the forum.....

It's certainly a possibility but I would have trouble knowing where to draw the line. :) Ideas about that? Not that having a badge when you haven't really earned it is such a big deal either. LOL

Yep, I can see that's difficult - it was just a thought - I'll think more about it.

Oh, I did mean to say - I like the badge artwork a lot!  thumbs-upthumbs-upthumbs-up

Someone else mentioned it can take up a fair bit of space - but I like the size, they are readable - is there any possibility of having some kind of "mini-icon" ( a bit like the FB, G+ icons ) - but when you mouse-over it - you get the lovely artwork as a pop-up (not a "text-tooltip" but the actual image) ?  Don't know it that's possible or not on WP.

Badges look great, except how they stack. when people start accumulating badges, its going to take months to scroll down to a post. I think about 1/2 the size or smaller would be really nice and lined up left to right. There should be a "trophy" wall somewhere once you get all the ones you like so they can be displayed like a military ribbon display. Each giving the criteria required to achieve its glorious attachment to you.  :)

Very nice. Add a jokester award to  for all the comic relief we sometimes get around here.

I realize that the stacked badges is completely wrong. Also, I'll probably reduce their size. Just trying to get the code right for the right layout. Have a lot of work right now. :(

Don't feel bad Tyberius, I haven't done anything yet either...  I hope to be able to do more once I improve past the stray cats fighting stage of playing.
