Francescatti had worlds of technique but he also played with feeling. He sets me on fire. Personally, I'll be happy if I can play some of the old standards well. crossedfingers

Hiefetz and Fancescatti are two of my favorites as well.

Here is another clip. I have never seen such amazing technique. Toward the end he both bows the strings and picks them with the fingers of his left hand. What is this technique called?

Thank you! I had never seen or heard that before. I'm amazed it's even possible.

@uncledave: Here is a simpler version of left hand pizzicato, easier to follow.

@Fiddlestix

That is a beautiful waltz. Thanks for the link. I'm going to try my hand (no pun intended) at left hand pizzicato.

I'm looking for recommendation of violinists playing jazz standards.

Here're my favourites (and their albums):

Ian Cooper (Soundpost)

Johnny Frigo (Live at The Floating Jazz Festival)

Stephane Grappelli (Stephane Grappelli In Paris)

@fullfillingsoul: Here is a list of a few jazz standards you might want to toy with. I myself will hit the list with my own arrangements.

Good luck.

Ken.

Edit:... forgot to include the link.
