I know we've had a discussion somewhere about how Film Music differs from Classical Music, but I can't remember where (please tell me if you know).

I might've mentioned the film, "Memoirs of a Geisha" (2005) - a fabulous story, but not sure if I talked about who played in the soundtrack.

John Williams did the score, the Violin & Cello solos were played by Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma!

"Sayuri's Theme" is just the 1st... the rest of the soundtrack is gorgeous!

I couldn't find one soundtrack video with the tracks timestamped, so here's the video playlist to hear them in the other tracks (Soundtrack Central) -

Memoirs of a Geisha is not the only film that Itzhak Perlman & Yo-Yo Ma have played scores for!

Don't forget to check out these threads about other film music (help me out - think I missed some):

Here's a video on John Williams scoring "Memoirs of a Geisha" with Yo-Yo Ma & Itzhak Perlman. (Magic Sounds and Music)
