DJ Okawari is a Japanese Composer that mixes styles, especially hip-hop & jazz.

Bio at last.fm:

I was born in Shizuoka, Japan. As a track maker / DJ.
I bring sampling to the core of every day HIPHOP, in the central organization under the theme of "music and everyday coexistence". "The Music is Any Moments in Life."
I express what I felt while I lived by a sound. I hope that you as a listener have your own sound in your life.
I regard scenes and relevance to feelings as important, and make a sound giving it "an ease "well-defined tightened feeling such wind when I open a book" to fall asleep just before that".
I always grope for a new thing without being always satisfied, and I continue always challenging it,
and my name, "DJ OKAWARI", comes from it.

I am a HUGE fan of Studio Ghibli animated films, especially those created by Hayao Miyazaki - and his main composer was Joe Hisaishi (aka. Mamoru Fujisawa).

Here's one of my favorites, from "My Neighbor Totoro" - "Path of The Wind", by Joe Hisaishi

Play-along sheet music, with 'normal' & 'half' speed - also available as full tutorials.

Another favorite, "Merry-Go-Round of Life", by Joe Hisaishi - from "Howl's Moving Castle"

Here's a Beginner Violin Version - that can be slowed down in the video settings.

Here's Play-along Sheet Music for "Always With Me" - from "Spirited Away", by Joe Hisaishi.

Note: There are 'Hard' & 'Easy' Tutorials vs. 'Hard' & 'Easy' Play-along Sheet Music at each of the respective sites - for this particular tune.  'Hard' is in a different key and MUCH longer - check out the 'Easy' first and decide whether the Sheet Music or Tutorials are more helpful.

Glad you like it, JohnG - me too!

How about the AMAZING combination of John Denver's classic, "Country Roads" together with Studio Ghibli's "Whisper of The Heart"?

More beautiful violin music from Composer Joe Hisaishi & Studio Ghibli!

One of my favorites - "Castle in The Sky", cover by Julien Ando - with link to his arrangements.

From Disney's Pixar & Universal's DreamWorks, to Studio Ghibli... I think children (of ALL ages) would do just fine learning music from their animated films!

Kenshi Yonezu is a very talented Japanese composer & artist.

Here Nicholas Yee performs a Cello cover of Kenshi's "Spinning Globe" - composed for Hayao Miyazaki's current film (maybe his last), "The Boy and The Heron"

Learn to play it on Violin!

To his fans, he has always been known as an incredibly talented artist who not only is a singer and musician but who also writes, arranges, programs and mixes his own songs as well as illustrates the breathtaking artwork on his releases and many of his music videos.
